Agree 100%. Too this is a Weidl guy who was drafted because he had some upside. Still has some upside but this is likely a 5th wr or PS wr. Nothing wrong with this move in the short term.
We are still very likely to draft a wr on day 2 or trade for one if the price gets reduced.

    I wouldn't be surprised if they added a #2 AND #3.

I almost expect a better vet to somehow be acquired as well as a rookie. This is nothing more than making sure the cupboard isn't empty and they have to reach/overpay for anything.

I also wouldn't be shocked if a 1-year deal was also signed for an average-to-below-average C along the way.

Hopefully, the Tyler Boyd acquisition can get done, then the Steelers would be ready for the draft to fall as it may.

The seems like such a match made in heaven, it's odd that it hasn't happened already. They must be pretty far apart since neither side has budged yet

Played overwhelming majority of snaps in the slot, which is where he'd fit here.

Boyd is a slot, Quez is a slot. The Boyd move is likely not happening.

Boyd's a slot because of who showed up. He has played the other positions, so I wouldn't say it's impossible.

I guess it all depends on how they judge them, but to me it feels like this team presently has Pickens and a bunch of WR4-WR6 (if they keep 6).

Steelers Add to Defensive Line Depth with Veteran Dean Lowry

    3/25/24

ORLANDO, Fla. The Pittsburgh Steelers look to have rounded out their defensive line rotation for the 2024 season by agreeing to terms on a contract with veteran free agent Dean Lowry, general manager Omar Khan said at the NFL owner's meetings on Monday.

Lowry, 29, is entering his ninth NFL season, eight of which were played with the Green Bay Packers, who drafted him out of Northwestern in the 2016 NFL Draft.

A 6-foot-6, 296-pound defensive lineman, Lowry can play both three- and five-technique, and will likely replace Armon Watts as the Steelers seventh rotational defensive lineman, along with Cam Heyward, Larry Ogunjobi, Montravius Adams, Keeanu Benton, DeMarvin Leal and Isaiahh Loudermilk.

A native of Rockford, Illinois, Lowry, became a starter in his second season with the Packers in 2017 and maintained at least a co-starting role in Green Bay through 2022. He had his most impactful season in 2021, when he recorded five sacks in addition to 42 tackles and five tackles for loss. He also had four passes defended and a fumble recovery.

The Minnesota Vikings signed Lowry to a two-year deal last March. He played nine games for Minnesota before suffering a pectoral injury on Nov. 19 that ended his season. He was released on March 12.

The Steelers shored up their depth at three critical spots on Monday, adding Lowry, third-string quarterback Kyle Allen and slot receiver Quez Watkins.

Year 4 for Loudermilk. If he doesn't make a big leap he'll end up as a permanent backup at best.
