Wilson and Fields both outplayed and outperformed the clowns we had last year.

Pickett showed that when things don’t go his way he will sound retreat and run away. Don’t need him
It's funny that you and FlaSteel were 100% wrong about Pickett not wanting to compete. You and him called Pickett a crybaby when the real real crybabies on the team are Pickens and Fitzpatrick. We all know why you won't criticize those two or Tomlin.

If only history was a good predictor of future success....

He showed more than that, He showed:

    1. THE lowest TD % of ANY QB with minimum attempts in the history of the NFL. The WORST % since the # has been recorded. You can accurately put partial blame on in inept head coach and OC, but to be the very worst, the QB has to be incriminated in some of the blame. He has THE worst TD% of all QBs in the history of the NFL.

    2. He showed weakness over and over again, not someone you want to take into battle. Not only did he showcase physical weakness. He showed a mental weakness when things got tough. He quit on the team when he knew Russel was signed. Quit.

    3. He proved weak armed and brittle in general and couldn't read a D to save his life. He also regularly missed wide open receivers.

On paper its better but until we see the product on the field we have no idea.

If we go 7-10 or 8-9 with Russ throwing 25 TD?s will we celebrate better QB play?
If turnovers are also low? I judge a QB on how HE plays. Ben was ABSOLUTE GARBAGE in his 1st SB victory compared to the Jax loss.

If Russ has 25 touchdowns low turnovers, and we have a losing record it means our expensive TOMLIN SCHEMED defense is trash.

If that happen EYE will call for Tomlins head.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Let that game go Cap.. let it goooooo

I’m talking about a whole season. Not one game.
I lost a bet about Najee gaining 1300 yards.

"Our head coach has failed to win a playoff game for seven years in a row. His game day strategy, culture of divas, in game decisions, clock management, player evaluation, hires, and affinity with sub par starters at RB, P, and OL are holding the Steelers back. That standard remains the standard"

    Let’s talk SEASONS.
Bens was a FAR BETTER QB in 2017 than he was in 2008, despite the different outcomes that were ONE HUNDRED PERCENT because of the differences in DEFENSE.

That is very true. But you have to first understand the game of football to get your post.

No turnovers by Ben in the first elimination game in 2008.

But to your point, when the defense plays well and you don’t turn the ball over or give up a DTD. You don’t need great stats to win.

Some of Ben’s best passing years were out worst years regarding wins and losses.

Steelers will devote $5 million in cap space to their top two quarterbacks, combined

The salary cap has spiked this year to $255.4 million. The Steelers will be devoting a fraction of it to their top two quarterbacks.
Kenny Pickett, a 2022 first-round pick, has a cap number for 2024 of $3.8 million. Newcomer Russell Wilson will have a cap number of $1.2 million, if he takes (as expected) a one-year deal for the league minimum.
That?s $5 million for their top two quarterbacks. Or 1.9 percent of the total cap, on QB1 and QB2.
That makes the Wilson move even more of a coup for the Steelers. To get a potential starter that cheap allows the Steelers to divert resources elsewhere, making the team better, either by signing free agents or extending the contracts of young, rising players. Or by keeping older players with higher cap numbers.
However it?s used, the Wilson signing gives the Steelers a cap windfall. If he plays well, it?ll be even better.

If I were the Steelers I draft a QB high, trading up if need be in 2025. Getting a rookie QB on his frist year conatact is HUGE...but he has to be at least a top 12-16 type of QB.

The cap money will be spent elsewhere. Pickens? A good to very good free agent DL?
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

Bens impressive statline when throwing 2 picks IN VICTORY.17-30 181 yards1 TD 2 picks- One pick 6 (AKA a DTD)(Bettis also lost a fumble)9-21 129 yards Zero scores 2 picks10-19133 yards Zero touchdown passes2 picksBen was 3-0 in 2 pick games until the Packer SB.The Greenbay SB was the first postseason loss of Bens CAREER when throwing 2 picks. So during the era of great Steeler defense Bens record was 3-1 in 2 pick games and won one of those games despite a pick 6.So Ben won playoff games with multiple turnovers pretty routinely because the defense did not let people score 45 points REGARDLESS the turnovers.
