You know this is stupid*, right?
SF didn't lose that game because of their defense.
I could understanding firing the ST coach because of the block. Or the OC for only scoring 19 points. Or the HC for not knowing how playoff OT works. But even those would be silly knee jerk reactions IMO.
But the D held the best QB in the game to 19 points in regulation.
*unless there are things behind the scenes that we don't know about

Apparently it was reported that SF didn't know about the OT rule change.

Imagine if those rumors were floating around about the Steelers?

Maybe Shanahan should have been focusing on his offense?
If I tell you that you're going to hold KC to 19 over 60 minutes, that should be enough. Particularly since your coach is an offensive guru.
And the OT would have went better for them (or at least made that 4th down decision much harder for KC) if they knew the rules for OT.
They couldn't stop the Chiefs from scoring a TD knowing if they scored a TD it's over with a borderline prevent style defense. Now if that was Shanahan's call then ok but if that was the DC's call then yeah, see ya.
But it wasn't just the SB, again, they looked terrible against the Lions giving up 31 at home and didn't look all that great at the end of the season either.
I know we're all used to coaches hanging around too long (ie, Canada, arguably Tomlin lol) but this isn't exactly a shocking move.
Hold up..
SF D forced a fumble inside their own 10 yard line.
SF intercepted Mahommes at mid field.
SF Defense held KC to 19 points
SF special teams muffed a punt and missed an extra point.
Offense was booty in the second half
Head Coach didn’t know the overtime rules.
…and the defense coordinator gets blamed for OT?
Make it make sense.
I lost a bet about Najee gaining 1300 yards.
"Our head coach has failed to win a playoff game for seven years in a row. His game day strategy, culture of divas, in game decisions, clock management, player evaluation, hires, and affinity with sub par starters at RB, P, and OL are holding the Steelers back. That standard remains the standard"
