I know the steeler way is to not do anything rash, but we’re only 2 games in. The whole season is still in front of us. If this was week 9, different story. Make the change now and don’t waste the remaining 15 games. Also, I think his failure at OC will actually hurt KP’s development. The longer he’s around, the more work it will take to get Kenny fixed.

But I know they won’t make the change. Too bad.

Honestly, that's why you don't wait until the end of the season to fire Canada. Because then you'd have a whole additional season under a new OC next year where people are saying, "but he's learning a new system" before you decide on KP.

Plus, in taking 2 full seasons you've wasted the balance of Cam's career and you have a TJ that's on the wrong side of 30 before you've even decided that you need a new QB.

I understand why the team will stick with Canada. Canada knows the players. Play calling isn't the issue IMO. Execution is the main issue.

I don't understand the "waste players careers" at this point. Especially when players were paid handsomely for their contributions and if they missed games or not. Both apply to Heward and Watt.

Both are core players in which a team can build around. Organizations pay those types of players. It's not a "waste".

Conclusion, If we are in this same situation at the bye week Canada is gone. They want to replace him with somebody they are already paying because they are cheap.

That's not what "waste" is referring to. I think you're missing the perspective.

It's from the perspective of: the team NAILED IT in the draft. This wasn't just a guy. Not even just a GOOD player. It's a special talent virtually single-handedly win games. He can do special things if you put him in the right environment. Imagine how he could impact playoff games if you just get him there.

Prime example: Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson both retired early because of a sense that they were on a team that wouldn't get them to the ultimate goal of a player. To them, it felt like a waste of time to keep trying on a team with no chance.

For a normal guy - let's say you had a degree from MIT and you were passionate in your field, had plans to innovate and had proven to be the best in your field. And they paid you as such.
But, the work environment had no computers, no technology, not even a calculator. You had to do all your work with pencil, paper and abacus.

That's a waste of talent. And being paid handsomely is not the problem. It's understanding the bigger impact this person *could* have given the right environment

I tend to think Glenn Thomas was brought in for this job. I know folks are leaning Sully, but I suspect if Thomas has any kind of work ethic that Tomlin notices, he's the choice.

Reading their bios, Sully seems to have more moves where the team wasn't successful as a whole and coaches were fired. I don't see as much of that with Thomas - more of his moves were steps up.

I read a quote where Brian Billick called Thomas one of the bright offensive minds in the game once upon a time.

No bro. Talents are not "wasted." In a perfect world all players would go to "perfect teams". All talented players would win championships. Luck? The bigger understanding is reality.

Sanders and Johnson are in the HOF. That's not talent wasted. It was a matter of timing for both players. Greatness is recognized.

I view waste talent as players that don't reach their full potential. Harris is on this path with is "spin move" approach. Harris is a grinder and run over defenders at the NFL level. He can't help a team win games with his approach at the NFL level. My "minor" scout opinion.

I don't think that CALLING the plays is the real issue. It's the design of the plays. The creation of the playbook. That's the issue.
