You suck it up with either Trubisky or Rudolph and evaluate whether you go into the draft looking for a quarterback or not. If the answer is yes, then expend more than the necessary resources to scout the top 3 or 4 prospects and hope that one drops to your 1st round draft position. If no, hire a competent OC and a more than competent quarterback coach and, hopefully, salvage Pickett.

Maybe not but the Keith Butler situation at least establishes precedent for phasing coordinators out in season.

I miss the good old days when Danny Smith was the whipping boy.

Is Sullivan demands the Jones and Warren start, and burns the Canada playbook.... I would support him taking over. But only Tomlin can order this.
The Steelers had a great draft in 2023. However better play calling / coaching is badly needed. Tomlin is hasn't won a playoff game in six years and counting. Nor has hired anyone good to his coaching staff. Think about that. Mike Tomlin says, " hell yeah we've got to make some changes. " We are waiting. But Khan and Weidl appear to have better management on the salary cap and focused on the right free agents and draft needs.

Don?t think they will fire Canada, but I would guess GT will be running the offense soon and Canada will be a lame duck who is OC in name only.

Right or wrong, this seems like a hire to have the next guy in-house and be familiar with the system (and players). It's actually how Canada got the OC job (a hire for a season behind Fintcher)

If you get deeper into the article, they highlight some of his play calling. I will admit that I'm intrigued

Honestly, that's why you don't wait until the end of the season to fire Canada. Because then you'd have a whole additional season under a new OC next year where people are saying, "but he's learning a new system" before you decide on KP.

Plus, in taking 2 full seasons you've wasted the balance of Cam's career and you have a TJ that's on the wrong side of 30 before you've even decided that you need a new QB.

You're not wrong saying this. But the move will require Pickett, who is slow to pick things to learn a new system. And for Tomlin to show some leadership.

Does it really take a season to decide that Canada isn't good? Evidently the answer for our head coach is yes.

The Steelers prime and many of our Hall of fame players have been pissed away by Dark Shades . I hit the rest button NOW. In fact I hit it a few years ago.

Here's the thing, we have to look at the history. What have the Steelers done in the past? The last 1st rd pick Big Ben was on a team that went 15-1 his rookie year and won the SB the next. We're no where near that comparison.

I'm going back to Mark Malone , he was a 32nd pick I believe and he tore his ACL in his 1st season? We have no history on this situation that is applicable. What are some obvious facts? Canada is a " dead man walking" OC. He sucks, everybody knows it. The Rooney's are tight with $. That is a historical fact. That is the only reason Canada is still the OC.

The Rooney's know that it can take 25 years to find a franchise QB. We are riding with Kenny P.
The overriding need to find a franchise QB will outweigh the tightness of Art II. Conclusion, If we are in this same situation at the bye week Canada is gone. They want to replace him with somebody they are already paying because they are cheap.

I think all of that is influenced by "the Steeler Way". Traditionally, they don't fire coordinators during the season, even if everyone knows they will be fired.

At a minimum, I'd like to see, "he's not fired, but <pick your assistant > will be taking over play-calling for the remainder of the season".

IMO, play-calling is only 10% of the problem. It's the play BOOK that needs to be replaced. Pretty tough to do that mid-season.
