    It looks like...

KP is Just A Guy (JAG) for right now. Not a popular statement with his hard core fans, but it is the truth for now. I'm not ruling out that he could get better, but I would not expect him to get close to the career Ben had. As many of us said going into his draft, his ceiling is Derek Carr/Kirk Cousin and he isn't close to that ceiling.

Another likely unpopular statement...its not just Canada! KP is leaving plays on the field that he should make if he is an elite QB. Can't give KP anymore passes and blame everyone and everything else. If KP is "the guy" versus "a Guy" he needs to show he can lift the team.

I remain hopeful because we have to. We aren't going to be in a position to draft a top QB anytime soon unless we get lucky like the 49ers and find a Purdy

Agree with the statement regarding KP.

Not agree with the statement of Canada...
His games plans are predictable, mediocre, inappropriate for a team like ours. Since he has been OC he has not demonstrated anything, absolutely nothing that makes him worthy of continuing to be our OC. It is also his obligation to adjust our game plan to our strengths (for this he must detect them). Furthermore, it is also up to him (although not only him) to develop KP and make him play with greater confidence. Not to mention the running game...

    Just my two cents.

Doesn't even look like that, frankly. He's had at least 3 dropped INTs in two weeks. He looks like he doesn't belong on the field.

I was thinking about this last night. Pickett is a film junkie, studies relentlessly according to reports. But there is also a real thing call 'test anxiety'. Come exam day some people just work themselves up to failure. There is also 'paralysis by analysis'. Too much info causing indecision. I don't know if KP has either of these, but the thought did come across my mind. It may simply be KP needing to work out what things should be focused on and what things he should filter out. That can only come with experience.

At this point, you might be over rating him with this comment.

It's still early and maybe he becomes something. Other guys have turned it around. But most don't.

He looks very bad so far this year. Remember when Ben said that it gets harder when they have an offseason to watch your tape?

He has to show that he can win with the pass. Every team we play should sell out against the run and make Pickett beat them. Very little evidence he can so far.

    Hopefully he changes that soon.

It might just be that he can't process and execute. Studying can only get you so far. You need ability too.

    Hopefully he has it.

    Fittipaldo:

Quarterback: The Steelers won this game, but it?s fair to wonder how many more they can win with Pickett playing the way he is. Other than a couple of throws to George Pickens, including a 71-yard touchdown, there wasn?t much to like about his performance. He completed just 50% of his passes (15 for 30) for 222 yards with one touchdown and one interception. In addition to his inaccuracy, he?s making bad decisions. The Browns dropped another interception on the first play of the second half. And he refuses to take easy yards on scrambles when none of his receivers are open. This was a game the Steelers should have won by three touchdowns, but they had to eke out a four-point win because Pickett played poorly again.

    Grade: F

KP has been graded an F 2 weeks in row. Team can't and won't win if he continues to play downright awful.

Pickett is a nice guy. He speaks fairly well. But his football IQ and play, speak for themselves.

A side note. Even the Yinzer fans who seldom question this team see the problems. I heard from the boos last night.

IMO, our problems are summed up as such. Tweedledum and Tweedledee coaching the offense. One picks who starts, the other calls the plays. With Harris as the #1 back, and Pickett being the quarterback. See any problems?
The Steelers had a great draft in 2023. However better play calling / coaching is badly needed. Tomlin is hasn't won a playoff game in six years and counting. Nor has hired anyone good to his coaching staff. Think about that. Mike Tomlin says, " hell yeah we've got to make some changes. " We are waiting. But Khan and Weidl appear to have better management on the salary cap and focused on the right free agents and draft needs.

Like I said last week, there really is nothing they can do about Pickett sucking this year. Trubisky isn't the QB of the future. So if you put him in, and maybe he gets us to 8 wins, that is the worst thing that can happen. If Pickett sucks and he's not our future, we'll win 4 or 5 games, which should get us a top 10 pick to draft our next QB.

But I agree, there's just something off with Pickett. He's playing scared, he's not accurate, and he's making horrible decisions. These are the things that were supposed to be his strengths.

He's reminding me of David Carr

In the glass is half full mindset - you typically want to see growth and progression in a QB’s second year. Based on his start, KP has nowhere to go but up. So growth and progression are a near certainty at this point…..
