    Watt/Highsmith

Cook and Joe said they were both off the field for parts of SF's FIRST drive of the game, including first and goal from the 8.

    WTF?

That's more puzzling than JPJ getting only 7 snaps and King not getting a hat.

    Who's running the D?

I'm not sure if TJ needs to do some conditioning or wind sprints or something, but he's on the sideline an awful lot. And there's no excuse for him and Highsmith to be 'catching a breather' on 1st and goal from the 7 on the first drive of the game.

        Yup, it’s no secret.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

Yeah I was questioning why TJ needed so many plays off while Bosa didnt do the training camp deal but still only came out for a few plays.

Then he got 3 sacks and I just shut up

Factually incorrect. Sometimes you guys see things that aren't there.

Watt = 48 snaps 71% of snaps, 5 ST snaps
Bosa = 35 snaps 56% of snaps, 1 ST snap

None of these guys are in Game Shape .... preseason doesn't prepare you for that. That's how you get injured. That's why you need depth

Watt was about 10% fewer snaps than his career average.

This is the reason that we got depth at OLB...which everyone has been raving about.

And he had 3 sacks and a FF + recovery.

TJ and his snap count are not on the very long list of reasons that we lost against SF. No need to play "go fish" looking for things to complain about in this game.

First drive of the game, though? 7th play in goal to go, and your two best OLBs are on the bench?

Sounds like a coach trying to outsmart himself.

I does seem odd. Would always be interesting to be on the sidelines / in the meeting rooms to get insight into some of these decisions.

But I also think it's fair to say that TJ and AH weren't going to score 23 points on that play and that it wasn't anywhere close to a deciding factor in that game.

I know a guy that played OL for the Buckeyes. He said the only way to get in football shape was to have many fights....in a telephone booth.

I know, many here won't know what a telephone booth is.

What part of Purdy throwing 100 percent and runners averaging 7ypc (4 for 28)to that point in the game gave you an inkling that it was going to make a difference who was playing OLBer was going to matter?

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

People still struggle to understand Tomlin's coaching methods. He puts young players in situations to test them and understand how well they will perform. He already knows what Watt and Highsmith can do. It was the first drive, still 0-0. Low risk even if they score. He had no way to know the offense would shlt the bed on the day at that point. Did he pull them after that?

If they're winded and can't play, ya let 'em get a drink. ESPECIALLY if you have depth that is worthy. ESPECIALLY in the first quarter.

C'mon guys. Yinz are just being whiny in some of these posts.

I don't buy that. This was a failure on Tomlin and the DC. What is the point of having high priced impact players if they are off the field in first in goal against a great offense?
