I am judging 2nd year QB's here. Not the guy who threw for 169 yards, 0 TD's and 1 int.

" Jackson turned the ball over twice in a tedious 25-9 win over Houston . "

Let's stick to the thread, okay?

Vs Houston one of the worst teams in the NFL.
The Steelers had a great draft in 2023. However better play calling / coaching is badly needed. Tomlin is hasn't won a playoff game in six years and counting. Nor has hired anyone good to his coaching staff. Think about that. Mike Tomlin says, " hell yeah we've got to make some changes. " We are waiting. But Khan and Weidl appear to have better management on the salary cap and focused on the right free agents and draft needs.

I've been on board the KP8 hype train since the end of last season. I feel like a may get off that train within the next stop or 2.
I'm interested in how this thread plays out this season and beyond.
I laughed at my Washington buddy in pre-season when he suggested that Sam Howell would be a legit starting QB and better than Pickett.
After the 1st 2 games, he hasn't brought it up but I'm starting to feel like a fool. Hope Kenny turns it around...and fast.

you stated that Purdy was a top ten QB, and he went 17/25 for 206 yards last week along with rushing for an additional 5 yards.

if he is, then the guy who went 24/33 for 237 yds with 2 TDs and zero turnovers in addition to rushing for 54 yds should be a top 10 QB also, wouldn't you agree?

Well, KP played well against bad teams in the second half of the season last year; so let's hope that he can play well against the crappy Raiders.
From the 2011-2022 season,(A 12 year period that the majority of Cowher's players & coaches had left) Mike Tomlin has only won 3 playoff games. And two of those wins were against back up Quarterbacks. Currently, Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in 6 years.

Steel Maniac and Joel lose all credibility when they can't even admit that Lamar played well against the Bengals this past Sunday.

Where did I say that he did not play well vs. the Bengals last week? Please do not ruin this thread. Let's stick to the topic of the thread. You can comment on the four 2nd year QB's . I would like to see your rankings of the play this season.

    4 INT’s.. just threw a pick 6

This is why you don’t use small sample sizes.

    Ridder with 114 passing yards
    Howell with 120 passing yards

both playing at home and 3 points combined between both QB’s.

    1. Purdy is very good. Zero turnovers. 17-25 206. He is a top ten QB, winning ever regular season game he has started.

    2. Howell. He's 3-0 as a starter coming off a game where he had to pass a lot. He was 29-39, 299 yards. Two TD's, zero interceptions. A tough minded guy. He had the best performance in the class last week.
Appears to be trending as a better the average staring QB.

    3. Ridder. He has a great back to play with in Robinson, and went 19-32 237 yards 1 td and 1 in. I think he's not better than average by starting QB standards. IE ... a QB you replace.

    4. Pickett. 15-30 222 yards 1 td, 1 int. He has an A+ receiver in Pickens that makes his stats look acceptable ( 71 yard td ) but his play was not good. He was off again on several throws and should have been interpreted twice. We won but the defense scored twice, which is the main reason why we won. He's not a franchise QB. He's not a top 15 QB either
    Time to update the rankings

Sam Howell.. 4 INTs. Shut out at home

Ridder 0 TDs and a fumble. 2 FG?s on offense for Atlanta.

    both played at home.
