Cockface doesn?t understand Harvin consistently pinned the opposition inside the 10 yard line in the preseason. He kicks it further they get the ball at the 20. Harvin had a damn fine preseason and won the job fair and square.

Nope. They just see one stat and treat it like gold.

where punts landed or how well punts were covered is of no concern.
I lost a bet about Najee gaining 1300 yards.

"Our head coach has failed to win a playoff game for seven years in a row. His game day strategy, culture of divas, in game decisions, clock management, player evaluation, hires, and affinity with sub par starters at RB, P, and OL are holding the Steelers back. That standard remains the standard"

might be 2 years in a row we keep fat albert over the 2nd string punter we had in camp and that guy goes on to have the better season like waitman did last year

The Steelers had the 2nd best punter in the NFL last season.

Harvin was ranked 2nd for return yards with 137 yards in 17 games.

that has to be the dumbest stat i've heard for punters.

return yards. that doesn't account for the shanks that go for 35 yards and are so short the returner can't field them.
how many return yards are given up when the punts that go off the side of his foot and out of bounds 30 yards down the field? what nonsense

its why net yards are used to determine how good a punter and the coverage unit is. and he ranked 28th in that category.

the year before he was 31st out of punters with at least 40 attempts. even lower if you include punters with less then 40 attempts

try pulling another stat out of you asses to say this guy has been good

I'm thinking we may just punt a lot less this year. That will help.

My observation on Harvin is that as the weather gets colder his punting gets worse. I don't know if that's true it is what I have observed. He has been with the Steelers now for what 3 seasons and this is his 4th? I attribute that to the simple fact that he couldn't handle the cold. He does better early on.

If he doesn't stay consistent this will probably be his last year.

But, Boz did not have a great year last season.
The Steelers had a great draft in 2023. However better play calling / coaching is badly needed. Tomlin is hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. Nor has hired anyone good to his coaching staff. Think about that. Mike Tomlin says, " hell yeah we've got to make some changes. " We are waiting. But Khan and Weidl appear to have better management on the salary cap and draft needs. How much we sign player for in 2nd and 3rd contracts need some major work.
