Highsmith forecasted to make $14 mill per year

    That's if he doesn't improve on last year's #s.

Khan desperately trying to get him signed for less right now. Think it's prudent to spend $45 million per season for just one, 2-man position? That doesn't strike anyone as excessive? That's why you got to hit it in the draft. You can't afford these kind of #'s.

My guess is that he'll be extended this year. And that it will end up being more than $14/year due to cap inflation.

    We'll see though.

I do think that it's good to think about money per position. But it's also good to "acquire good players" and to "retain good players".

Highsmith is a good player. Worth keeping. Particularly when so many of our early draft picks haven't worked out recently. We haven't had great hits on 1st round players getting 2nd contracts.

    Since DeCastro.
    1. J Jones
    2. Shazier
    3. Dupree
    4. Burns
    5. Watt
    6. Edmunds
    7. Bush

Three guys on that list were good enough to get good second contracts (and Dupree seems to have fallen off pretty hard).

Hopefully Harris, Pickett, and Jones fair much better (like the 3 years before Jones Pouncey / Heyward / Decastro)

More than likely, Highsmith's contract will start to ascend when TJ's contract starts to descend.

These are the kinds of signings you make when you have a rookie QB contract. It doesn't happen otherwise.

I think that teams can find ways to resign and keep the core players they want to keep.

$45 mill for 1 position. Good luck, better turn into 40 sacks between them.

The moving the chains guys read off sone stars that have him comparable to Harold Landry.

and from what Landry signed, think AH will seek something like a 5 yr $90M contract
