My guess is that he'll be extended this year. And that it will end up being more than $14/year due to cap inflation.
We'll see though.
I do think that it's good to think about money per position. But it's also good to "acquire good players" and to "retain good players".
Highsmith is a good player. Worth keeping. Particularly when so many of our early draft picks haven't worked out recently. We haven't had great hits on 1st round players getting 2nd contracts.

Three guys on that list were good enough to get good second contracts (and Dupree seems to have fallen off pretty hard).
Hopefully Harris, Pickett, and Jones fair much better (like the 3 years before Jones Pouncey / Heyward / Decastro)
