What have we learned this week-end?

We learned “adapt or die”.
You need to work the draft board and accumulate draft capital.
Staying “pat” sometimes works n sometimes it does not.
Glad we have become flexible in our approach.Comment

you guys pretending to know another man's hunger or desire are living in some crazy fan fantasy world. Never mind that you've never looked them in the eye, shook their hand, or shared any semblance of a conversation with them. Never mind the obvious facts that point to the contrary or the sheer laziness of the conclusion.
Is it a glimmer in their eye that is no longer there? A pep in their step they may have lost? The energy in their voice is gone? What makes you think these men have lost their hunger? It's absurd to think anyone could possibly know the hunger or desire of another human - particularly if you don't know them on any level and have never even met them.
This is nothing more than cherry-picking a couple pieces of flimsy circumstantial evidence and trying to cobble together some kind of far-fetched truth that makes sense to you. Way too much of that kind of thinking going on out there already. C'mon people! :cheers"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment

If we go another decade without a playoff win, we'll see if some of you change your tune.
Look, like I said, I hope bringing in Khan/Wiedl will light a fire that will cause us to really get it going. Looks like a welcome & needed "break" from the past decade of the Colbert FO, but we shall see.Last edited by Buzz; 05-02-2023, 04:17 PM.Comment

Hard to share the excitement. YES I've loved the Draft and thought Last Yrs Draft was pretty good too.
However I have ZERO faith in Matt Canada - plus I don't see all these 1st & 2nd Yr players taking us very far.
Another 9 win season ahead - i've accepted it - but lets get a real OC and build off the talent on the roster
Infusion of talent is wasted if you have coordinators who don't know what to do with itComment

Nope. Not really talking about signing a lot of "super-expensive high level UFAs" (although it might be warranted once in a while). But what about insisting that the HC hire better coordinators? What about insisting that he hire assistants to help him in areas where he has demonstrated weakness? How about giving up the $$$ for more/better assistants? How about holding GM, scouting staff, and coaches (anyone involved) accountable for poor drafts? How about genuinely putting the HC on the hot seat, insisting that going years without winning a playoff game is not going to be good enough?
ARII hasn't, and I have my doubts that he will.
Khan?
Weidl?
New offensive pass coordinator
trading Claypool to get a shutdown corner at 32 in this draft.
Those look like some serious changes to me.Steelers 27

would it have happened if Colbert hadn't retired? Doubtful
Wasn't like Rooney forced the move
The new offensive pass coordinator? Hopeful this bodes well for meaningful offensive changes, but I'm not optimistic that anything will be too different as long as we have our Mickey Mouse OC.
I'm on record as being a big fan of trading Clayfool. But it didn't exactly take a genius to see that he was a bumbling mistake of a 2nd round draft pick. If he'd played like even a legitimate #3 or #4 receiver, he'd probably still be with the Steelers. I hope Porter is a "shutdown corner", but since he hasn't played a down in the NFL yet, I'm going to wait until at least a couple of weeks into the season to pronounce him as such. I remember being super excited about the 2008 class (Mendenhall, Sweed, Davis, Hills, Dixon, Humpal) right after the draft.Comment

Simply put ARII decides and has final say over every decision regarding the organization. ARII shows the money and has passion to win.
Khan was an ARII promotion. Weidl was rehired by ARII from previous experience within the Steelers organization.Last edited by BURGH86STEEL; 05-02-2023, 04:47 PM.Comment

long with tons of success its not uncommon to let them leave gracefully instead of firing them for the fans entertainment.
and if you can admit to being excited about the 2008 draft then it shows how hard it is to get things right.Steelers 27

My point in referring to the 2008 draft was that I would be hesitant at this point to pronounce any of our just drafted players as sure-fire NFL stars (and I liked the picks)Comment

Nah, KC had been talking about hanging it up for several years. No indication anywhere that he was pushed out.

I think everyone is legit doing their best - some are just better equipped in their attempts.
We're fortunate in that we're fans of a team that players *want* to come to. Between the coach and the legacy, their reputation precedes them - regardless of what some fans say2013 MNF Executive Champion!Comment

I don't see it, but it still wouldn't mean they weren't *trying*.

No proof but I feel like we purposely ignored the OL because we had Ben. Maybe its because Ben was able to work with less or maybe its because we didn’t want to invest in the OL until we had our next QB?
I think when you have a Hofer QB are the end of his career you are in a holding pattern due to the commitment, relationship and respect you have for them but it can also feel like you are being held hostage from moving forward.
Which is why most teams move their QB. We didn’t.. and I think the past few years feels like we mailed it in management wise.Steelers 27
