OTOH, why would a team negotiate a trade that gives up more than 2-1st round picks when they could make him an offer and see if the Ravens match or not. It will be interesting to see what the league thinks about his ability to take a team into the playoffs and possibly a Super Bowl.

I am also beginning to come around to Steel Maniac's take on Lamar as a player. This year will be interesting.

Thanks pap. I"ve seen them all. Young Randall Cunningham, Vick, Tebow, Grogan, Kapernick, all run first QB's that can't pass, win nothing. Never have. And if I know this, you best believe the other GM's know the history too.
From the 2010-2022 season,(A 13 year period that the majority of Cowher's players & coaches had left) Mike Tomlin has only won 3 playoff games. And two of those wins were against back up Quarterbacks. Currently, Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in 6 years.

Steeler fans still loving on Tomlin now, are the same as Dolphin fans in the 90's who were still loving on Shula for what he did in the 70's

The Lamar Jackson saga never ends. I wish the dude would just go away. I don't think any team will pay Jackson as much money as he thinks he deserves. He's not a fit for a traditional NFL system that teams desire.

He'd be great fit in a triple option offense. Maybe he can go back to college and coach QBs in that type of system. Otherwise, I don't think he'll be in the league for too much longer. He's pricing himself out of existence.

you just can't admit how wrong you were about Lamar Jackson being a total flop and bust in the NFL, can you?

because that was Steel Maniac's prediction about Lamar that many of us have been disagreeing with.

everything else has just been him moving the goalposts since he's unable to ever admit he was wrong.
Obviously, not a total bust, but going to hamstring a team financially and not carry them into the playoffs and win playoff games. His athletic ability will win a lot of games but his quarterbacking abilities will see early exits from the playoffs, imo. Ask yourself this question. Would you take Lamar over Pickett right now? That is, would you give up 2-1st round picks and make a 250 million dollar guaranteed contract to hire Lamar Jackson?

I don't think I would and each of the other 31 teams have to take into consideration what Lamar Jackson wants for a contract. He just isn't worth it.

1.17 - Broderick Jones, OT, GA (Darnell Wright, OT, Tenn)
2.32 - Joey Porter Jr, CB, PSU (Jack Campbell, ILB, Iowa)
2.49 - Keannu Benton, DT, Wisconsin (Mazi Smith, DT, Michigan)
3.93 - Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia (Kyu Blu Kelly, CB, Stanford)
4.132 - Nick Herbig, LB, Wisconsin
7.241 - Cory Trice Jr., CB, Purdue (Christian Izien, S, Rutgers)
7.251 - Spencer Anderson, G, Maryland (Tim DeMorat, QB, Fordham)

And, there's your 2023 Steeler draft class

I think Baltimore's hope is that another team makes Lamar a reasonable offer and then Baltimore matches. Then they get the player on a reasonable deal and the other team does the hard work of negotiating.

So to not have Baltimore match, the other team could (1) make an unreasonably high offer and live with the overpayment or (2) offer enough compensation to BAL that makes it too good to give up.

    I'm not sure either happens.

Maybe Lamar is on the road to trying to play out the tag and be one of the better QBs to hit UFA in their prime.
He turned down 200 million guaranteed, that's the starting point for negotiations evidently, that's a steep price tag.

I don't necessarily disagree with anything you just said.

but you're completely missing the point of what started this whole debate. as soon as Baltimore drafted Lamar Jackson, Steel Maniac predicted he was going to be a total bust and flop in the NFL and set the Ravens franchise back 5 years for selecting him. additionally, SM predicted the Browns' drafting Baker Mayfield would leapfrog them ahead of Baltimore in the standings.

well, LJ won a NFL MVP award, has a .740 winning record, has led the Ravens to two AFC North titles and the Browns have yet to finish ahead of the Ravens since they drafted Mayfield.

all it would take for everyone to just move on is for Steel Maniac to admit that he was wrong about Lamar being a total flop and bust in the NFL. however, since he has a complete inability to ever admit when he's wrong, he continues to move the goalposts from what he originally said.

Kaepernick made a SB and was a play away from beating the Ravens.

Jalen Hurts was just in a SB.

You continue to make no sense on this topic of QB’s you have supposedly seen who “won nothing”

    Caught this gem

His reading of the market is on par with his reading of defenses.

You can sell your house without a real estate agent but people still use 'em. Most people are lazy or don't want to deal with the details.

Yes makes my point, people buy and sell houses all the time without an agent, but what if the bank wouldnt deal with you or a seller wouldnt sell to you unless you had an agent. This is what is happening to Lamar, he is in a system where its done a certain way and everyone gets their money, he is trying to cut the agent out of the system and do something different.
