This. And I said it as soon as Watson inked his deal with the Clowns. That absurd deal does NOT have to be the new bar for QB contracts. It's only the new bar if some team is stupid enough to pay it. Just don't do it. The Rats seem clear they don't intend to. So Lamar is open to hope some other team does.

If I was an owner, there's no way in hades I would guarantee that much money to a player who relies mostly on his legs and hasn't completed the past two seasons. I'm not even sure I'd guarantee that much money to Mahomes. You're screwed if he has a major injury.

I don't think anyone is denying his skill set - but if he thinks a team will spend 25-30% of their cap on him, particularly when they look at his availability the last few years in Dec/Jan, well - I would be surprised if someone bites on that. Doesn't mean it couldn't happen - but I think he's in for a rude awakening.

Jackson's real value is MUCH lower that he thinks it is. He thinks he is a top 10 QB young QB. Those guys do not take long to get paid, do they? He is what he is, A running QB with a lot of hits on him. His body is already betraying him as he missed 10 games in two seasons.

As a passer he is way below par and IMO would struggle more in team without a good defense, good OL, good kicking, and IMO a good and very patient coach.

The Ravens did not put him too bad may situations in general and FOUR of his Five seasons he has just three 4th quarter comebacks at quarterback, a very low number!

As a passer he competed 62.3% of his passes. Another low number compared to his peers. He is a me first team 15th type of guy who could have played in the playoffs for his team but opted not to.

He may find himself with no team interested at his price. Then the selfish man might sit out the year, and pull a L. Bell type of move. Let him, he will find his real value is that of used up running back. Either that or go back on what he said, which at this point I doubt he can. He should have an agent talking for him, but like I said he is a my way or highway type of guy.

His behavior will not shock me if he has off the field problems. He hangs out with fellow South Florida QB Antonio Brown. A man is defined partially by the company he keeps.

The Steelers had a great draft in 2023. However better play calling / coaching is badly needed. Tomlin is 19-18-1 in last 38 games played and hasn't won a playoff game in six years and counting. Nor has hired anyone good to his coaching staff. Think about that. But Khan and Weidl appear to have better management on the salary cap and focused on the right free agents and draft needs.

a low number of 4th quarter comebacks and a 74% winning percentage.

Do the math dude.. lol. If a team wins 74% of its games more times than not they are playing with a lead.

4th quarter comebacks are tricky. While its a nice stat to show grit and the will to win, it also means if you have a lot of them, its because you are often trailing.

Man, that’s strange that teams aren’t knocking down his door. Several on here say he’s great and should get paid.
I’m wondering why they don’t want the Steelers to sign him?
Pickett is here on the cheap for awhile so that isn’t an issue.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 13 years?

I’m pretty sure if we reached out to the Ravens to ask about Lamar they wouldn’t even pick up the phone. Trades like that only happen when the QB is close to retirement.

Not strange to me. Teams are publicly being PC; but their actions back up the truth about him.
From the 2011-2022 season,(A 12 year period that the majority of Cowher's players & coaches had left) Mike Tomlin has only won 3 playoff games. And two of those wins were against back up Quarterbacks. Currently, Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in 6 years.

Steeler fans still loving on Tomlin now, are the same as Dolphin fans in the 90's who were still loving on Shula for what he did in the 70's

    gloat gloat gloat

Long reported to have offered Jackson $133MM fully guaranteed, the Ravens proposed the former MVP a deal with $175MM in total guarantees. The $42MM injury guarantee would have shifted to a full guarantee early over the course of the contract, Albert Breer of SI.com reports. An additional $25MM — present in the fourth year of the contract — would have become guaranteed in Year 3 of the deal, Breer adds. Overall, that 2022 offer topped $290MM over six years.

The $175MM in total guarantees would have topped Russell Wilson ($165MM) for second in the league.
