A WR for every pick

Good to be back. Let's take a look at the Wide Outs for 2023. Here is my preferences on a legit WR prospect at each pick the Steelers currently own for the 2023 draft. And a couple of extras for picks we don't have.

1/17- Jaxon Smith Njigba-OSU- while it is unlikely he slips to 17 JSN is simply the best WR prospect in the draft and an ideal fit at slot.

2/32-Zay Flowers-BC-absolutely electric in the open field, a true matchup nightmare who has ankle breaking moves (drops are a concern)

2/49- Jordan Addison-USC- I know, I know Addison will be a first round player. I would not take him there. He will struggle to shed physical NFL corners and lacks elite athleticism. He also is an outside WR. Not a role we need in round 1. If he were to slip to this spot though. I think you'd have to take him for KP8

3/80- Marvin Mims-OU- Mims profiles very similar to Addison. However Mims is a better athlete and is a little more position versatile. He simply knows how to find open grass and is a phenomenal contested catch receiver. Tested really well at combine.

4/120-Jayden Reed-MSU- kid is a FOOTBALL player. Contested catches, blocks, return ability, gets open. Dude reminds me of Hines Ward

5th-no pick- Charlie Jones-Purdue- Jones is another FOOTBALL player, tons of experience, consistently finds open grass, productive and physical (despite small size) WR with special teams experience

6th-no pick- Xavier Hutchinson-Iowa St.- solid position versatile player, NFL size. Not a wow athlete but could offer special teams and push for final WR spot

7/234-Ronnie Bell-Michigan-jack of all trades master of none, positional versatility and special teams will be his attractiveness.

7/241-Jadon Haselwood-Arkansas-former 5 star recruit who never really put it all together, Big Slot type player. Similar skill set to a Chase Claypool. Could be a lottery ticket in the 7th round if coaching can unlock his talent.

I agree, and to be honest, not a bad time to have a weaker class. We need OT, NT, CB to start with.

Maybe 1 or 2 #1 Receivers lots of #3's though. Good for us.

I'd actually prefer that it be a strong WR class, which may allow other players at those positions (OT, NT, CB, etc) to fall to us as WR's get gobbled up.

Yea, and you could say that about any position, really save kickers and long snappers.

This is the worst WR class of the last several years. At one point in time, I would have snatched up Addison in the 1st round but not anymore. The only WR in this list that I think is a great value pick is Jayden Reed in the 4th round. I've been pimping that guy for a few months now.

Chris Simms did his annual wide receiver rankings for the draft on Monday. Flowers came in as his number-one receiver and drew an interesting comparison from Simms:

"It's hard not, and again, I know that's a huge name to throw out there but... the build, the style of running, the way [Flowers] runs routes... I was like 'this is going to sound ridiculous for me to write this,' I think he looks like Antonio Brown."
