A former first-round pick by the Steelers in 2018, Edmunds has appeared in 15 or more games through his first five seasons in the league but has struggled at times in pass coverage. He allowed a career-high four receiving touchdowns last season while opposing receivers have converted 67.2 percent of their targets into receptions when facing him.

Well, we nabbed a couple of their guys, guess it's to be expected
He'd become a solid player in our D-backfield
hope we kind find someone as good to replace him

Actually it's the opposite. ESPN.com is the alter at which FFL nerds pray, FFL isn't based on counting stats at all.

Example: Purdy throws a 0-yard out that Deebo houses for 80 yards, Pickett throws a perfect dime 50 yards downfield that DJ drops. ESPN/passer rating will grade Purdy higher, PFF will grade Pickett higher.

    PFF is of course correct.

Passer rating is incorrectly 100% credited to the QB, whereas it should be called "Passing Game Rating", where QB, WR, OL, play calling, luck all play into it.

    Yes this is correct.

I would suggest however, that pff errs on the extreme in dismissing counting stats and that the judging individual plays can also lose context.

Now back to THIS subject which was a safety not QB.

The “counting” stat that Minkah led all secondary players in tackles in 2021 is dismissed because the front 7 did not do its job. There is “some” merit to that fact.

But with that in mind, this ignores the fact that Edmonds WHO HAD THAT SAME ADVANTAGE, and who had a higher score than Minkah was 21st in tackles. Why?

Minkah not only had WAY MORE tackles he ALLOWED FEWER receptions than higher pff scoring Edmonds.

Do you honestly believe that not only was Minkah one of the worst playing safeties in the league, he played worse than Edmonds?

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

    TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

I did not watch multiple angles of every play on All-22 by both players, so I can't answer. Is it possible that Minkah got beat a lot but receivers dropped balls or the QB sailed them? Or didn't even look the receiver's way?

    I prefer Kazee personally.

And I’ve been big on Branch for a while and think adding him in the mix could really make this 3 S lineup work.

Plus Branch and Minkah can cover in the slot interchangeably.

Will miss his positivity on D. I hate losing guys with great character who really don’t cost that much.

I would suggest Minkah missed more tackles because he was trying to clean up other people’s mess.

What’s the scoop on the other nana safety.
    jordan battle.

With the capital and high contract already spent at the safety position.
maybe a lower round pick is the way we go

    Edmunds signed for $2M.
    Only 600k his renters.

at this rate, he’ll be out of the league next year.
and people here will still think he’s a good player

A bit surprising. Maybe the Steelers don't value 'availability' as much as 'ability'?
