IMO, Steelers Football is to dominate the trenches and play a physical brand of football. Obviously, the league is pass-happy these days, so it doesn't necessarily mean to play like the 1970's and run 75% of the time. You'll have to adjust with the times and pass, but ideally your WR would like to block (see: Hines Ward). But in dominating the trenches, you have more options. If you gain a lead, you can run more often to kill the clock.

If you dominate the trenches defensively, then more times than not, you stuff the run, forcing your opponent to pass. But, that's just what the team wants because they traditionally have dominant pass rushers, which the team has has a history of, from TJ to Harrison to Porter to to Lloyd to Joe Greene & LC Greenwood.

I guess the short answer is: It's a dominant defense with a moderate offense.

To be clear, by moderate, I mean middling. Not a greatest show on turf, but certainly not the Tim Couch Browns, either. I mean an offense that *can* be explosive on a given day (this true dating back to Swann/Stallworth).

Anyway, that's what *I* think when someone says Steelers football.
This is a good start. I would also add that they like to interject the team from the FO to the players with folks from the Burgh and Western Pa , and PA/ WV, Ohio in general. Not all are from the area, but many are. I remember when they would draft from Shippensburg, Indiana Univ of PA, Kent State, etc. Even down my way, they brought in a guy from Shepherd Univ. Others, that I know. Jon Witman from York (PEnn State) and Dan Kreider. Another example- Andy Weidl was just hired last year.

Been told the steelers never deviated from their philosophy.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 13 years?

Well, you've been sold a bill of goods. They started by letting their OL turn into shlt. Cool Shades don't like paying attention to the trenches. He ignored them twice already.

Yea, I am smart enough to see the truth.
That’s why I’ve been trying to educate our fans about our organization.
As much as they want to live in denial, the only thing we do different is keep our HCs.
