Pump the brakes a bit on Kazee, a player who I wanted them to re-sign. He played limited snaps last season, and the last time he was a starter in Dallas, he was bad.

Safety is not a primary need, but not a position I would be happy to hand over to Damontae and call it a day without some backup plan.

Totally agree. Kazee is no where as effective as Edmunds. He is an add on..not the main guy

    Need to bring Edmunds back

2021 “Cowboy” starter Kazee allowed a 85 QB when targeted.

If THAT is bad what is a 116 QB rating when Edmonds was targeted last season.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

As I look the disparity is worse than I thought.

    Kazee has-
    14 picks
    7 forced fumbles
    In his career .

    Edmonds has
    5 picks and
    ZERO forced fumbles.

That is FOUR Kazee turnovers for every ONE Edmonds has.

Kazee has over 1000 fewer career snaps than Edmonds.

Steelers never gave up more than 16 points in any the 4 Kazee starts. He is no Minkah or TJ but….

Just MAYBE we give the guy who had a when targeted QB rate of 45 A LITTLE credit for that?

Kazee allowed 4 tds on only 25 targets in 2021 playing in a traditional safety role. He only played in Dallas for 1 season and wasn't re-signed. I like the guy and happy he's back, but just want some more insurance at that position. What you saw last year in that hybrid role is not the same role he will play as Edmund's replacement.

I agree with points on both sides. I also want Edmonds resigned on the cheap and a draft pick this yr or next to replace upgrade him. Or possibly a FA will do that this season or next.

He is solid and his best attribute over Kazee is availability. Kazee has a injury history if I remember right. And he fits best as that 3rd hybrid safety with less reps and less playing in the box taking punishment.

If we are looking at a mid round safety in this draft a player like Martin from Illinois played in the same secondary as Witherspoon. Steelers likely very familiar with him. Not big at 5 11 195 but tested well 4.46 and NBA like vertical of 44. Can drop down n cover the slot. May end up a nickel corner who can also play single high. Good mid round value pick that may fill a need if Edmunds is not returning or even if he does return.

    Games played the last 3 seasons;

    Edmonds - 92%
    Kazee - 58%

Kazee is a good fit in their 3-safety package, but you both are right - not sure he's starter material.
