Neverthess, I would suggest that nobody sees our line as so great it cannot use an infusion of talent.
I remember several posts that stated the FO didn't need to be that concerned about the OL, that it was coming together just fine
I'll look for links, but I'd think you could remember this

As I said, I recall the idea that our line is not as bad as people think, which I believe YOU interpret as meaning more than is actually said.

As an example, I don’t believe ANYBODY would be surprised by our moves OR if we take a tackle 17 if one drops.

I for example LUV me some cornerback. I anticipate that as our first pick. But if a tackle that is worth pick 17 (no reaching for one) falls and is there I think we snap him up, and I’d be elated. I just think the top tier will be gone and corner is more likely.

But I am not a guy constantly whining about the OT position so if you see ME excited if we take one you’d consider me inconsistent.

    Well not now I guess.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

    TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

I think this probably involved drafting OL early and often. Looks like we could once again “ignore” OL early on the first 2 days of the draft.

From posters on this board, late in or following this past season and before FA:

“On the flip side, perhaps you and everyone else who thinks we need to replace OLinemen at this point are the delusional ones.

Rooney knows his team and what he's talking about. I understand why they are keeping Canada, even though I wish he was gone like many feel.

But to replace other linemen who have played an entire season together now and some for 2 years, is to me, preposterous and illogical. It would be starting all over again, and setting them back. Move forward with this starting 5, and let them get better together. We won't see any OL taken with the 1st 3 picks. Write it down.”
    --
“OL woes is soo last season... Your fear is that the Steelers will retain something that's working??? The Steelers proved that what they did Sunday night IS the way the game is... What a moronic thing to say...”
    --
“I would be willing to bet that the Steelers don't see the offensive line as an urgent need like many Steeler fans believe. The offensive line has quietly been improving game after game”
    --
“Clearly, this Oline was getting it done. And is young. Of course they are going to get better. If a stud falls into their lap, fine. But zero desperation.”

Not sure if this is at me.

I have said that I think the FO probably doesn't think it's as big a need as we do.

Particularly given the age and contract years remaining on the line.

Dotson was the only guy who expires at the end of this year. And we have multiple OGs who will be fighting for that spot.

I think we'll take a T if one of the top 3 fall. But I don't think we'll reach for one if they don't.

My belief was that the left side of the Oline needed to be addressed in FA or the draft to bring in competition. The Steelers did that at the guard spot. Let's see if a quality LT becomes available in the draft/post draft FA period.

Players became available and this allowed the Steelers to address the interior of the Oline. They didn't have to give up any draft capital or over pay any players. At times it simply boils down to player availability in FA and the draft. The salary cap implications/ team building are also considerations.

I don't think anyone was ok with the Oline even though the group showed improvement as the season progressed.

The competition will be good for the group. The Steelers could trade someone too. Injuries will happen. Ect. Ect.

This is my favorite signing so far.
From the 2011-2022 season,(A 12 year period that the majority of Cowher's players & coaches had left) Mike Tomlin has only won 3 playoff games. And two of those wins were against back up Quarterbacks. Currently, Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in 6 years.

I'm pretty sure that we'll draft an OT on Day 1 or Day 2.
