yep.. but you know Joel will stick forks in his eyes and go with the story that fuels his pessimism.

Muth said it was different with an 8 year vet so that means no audibles at all.

Joel, the simple answer is that I believe they'll take a young QB in this draft, but my guess is 4th round (unless they trade into the 5th/6th somehow).
Still, Pickett showed enough that I think you go with him for now. He has the clutch gene and that was the first thing I noticed coming out of camp last year. If you start me with that, I'm willing to wait on everything else unless you're just plain terrible (which he isn't)

If we keep Mitch aint no way I would draft a QB before the 6th round. I would prefer we poach practice squad QB to be honest.

The problem is the team doesn't presently have a 6th rounder. If the right guy is there in the 4th, I could see it. The team seemed to like Duggan from TCU

My guess is the 3rd or 4th round. Maybe the 2nd if the right guy is on the board. I am for cutting or trading ( we should be so lucky ) of Trubsiky. Pickett should start unless of course a young QB clearly beats him out in camp or is injured. I would not write off a regression either, but that is unlikely.
The Steelers had a great draft in 2023. However better play calling / coaching is badly needed. Tomlin is hasn't won a playoff game in six years and counting. Nor has hired anyone good to his coaching staff. Think about that. But Khan and Weidl appear to have better management on the salary cap and focused on the right free agents and draft needs.

    This.

I really hope we don't waste a draft pick to bring in a QB3. I'd much rather draft a guy who has some chance of getting on the field for some kind of meaningful snaps (including ST).

I know that we don't usually pay enough to get the "best" UDFAs. But who cares. It's QB3. Your season is already over if that guy has to play.

its not happening. Joel said we may even draft a guy in the second who could beat Pickett out.

To be fair to Joel, the need for a QB does go up if we cut MT (which he says we should do).
