From the 2010-2022 season,(A 13 year period that the majority of Cowher's players & coaches had left) Mike Tomlin has only won 3 playoff games. And two of those wins were against back up Quarterbacks. Currently, Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in 6 years.
Steeler fans still loving on Tomlin now, are the same as Dolphin fans in the 90's who were still loving on Shula for what he did in the 70's
Good for Spillane. I'm one of the few that liked him. I'm not saying he's great, but at least he always played with intensity which is more than I can say for Bush.
I liked Spillane too. Sad to see him go.
This free agent period is sucking so far.
I also liked Spillane and was hoping he'd be back. A thin position just got thinner. Simpson, Sanders, or Campbell are looking better and better at 32 or 49.
Absolutely ILB has to be top priority in the draft now. I think Robinson could be the same type of player as Spillane regularly popping opposing ball carriers with authority. Except that Robinson is more athletic than Spillane but still raw at this point. Which ILB would be your number one choice to draft?

Welcome back man. I missed your posts on the draft. Spilane is not worth THAT much money but with Bush likely gone and Robinson unproven a gaping hole at ILB is on the team.
The Steelers might have to reach for and ILB in round one, or gamble that their targets will be there in round two. I say trade down ( if possible ) in round one , staying in the round picking up additional picks ( say 3rd and 6th ) and perhaps picking Jack Campbell in round one. We need all the draft picks we can get. And extra 3rd and 6th will be nice.
The Steelers had a great draft in 2023. However better play calling / coaching is badly needed. Tomlin is 19-18-1 in last 38 games played and hasn't won a playoff game in six years and counting. Nor has hired anyone good to his coaching staff. Think about that. But Khan and Weidl appear to have better management on the salary cap and focused on the right free agents and draft needs.
I was more surprised by this than Sutton.
Raiders with a one year rental (2 yr deal) for Spillane, which is likely all he would get from the Steelers. And if the Steelers draft an ILB it's likely Spillane would be on the bench by year's end. Raiders probably offered more guaranteed this year. He was a VWill in this defense, plays hard but just doesn't have the athleticism for a modern starting ILB.
