And I don't think $133M guaranteed was a lowball offer to Lamar at ALL, particularly when you see the kinds of contracts that the GOAT has played for in his career. He was never about setting the bar for QB pay. He was about being great. Reminds me of Bell. He was more interested in setting the bar than being great in a role that was perfect for him. And he later openly regretted it.

Different people handle things differently. I think Lamar is focused solely on beating the insane contract that his counterpart got from the Clowns.

I've always been of the opinion of doing what you love for the reason that you love it. Not for the money. If the money becomes the most important thing, you're going to end up disappointed.
Lamar isn't going to get 200 mil guaranteed from any team in the league. And he's about to find that out when no one offers two first round picks for him. He's not a Mahomes or Burrows for anyone even to contemplate offering something like that.
From the 2010-2022 season,(A 13 year period that the majority of Cowher's players & coaches had left) Mike Tomlin has only won 3 playoff games. And two of those wins were against back up Quarterbacks. Currently, Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in 6 years.

Steeler fans still loving on Tomlin now, are the same as Dolphin fans in the 90's who were still loving on Shula for what he did in the 70's

LJ doesn't have to report until just before the start of regular season.

you’ve taken significantly less? I doubt that.

and no, you can’t use the GOAT to lowball a guy. If Kyler Murray got $189 guaranteed that is where the number needs to start if I’m Lamar.

Fans love to say “its about the love, its about the game” that is bull that is used to shame players for trying to maximize their earnings.

Jackson if he wants a guaranteed contact I propose he get paid when he plays. In the past 22 game he missed 10! And he did not even attend the playoff game that sulky man! I'm telling you. Run that by his mom please. She can figure out if Lamar can't how much money he would make asking for a guaranteed contract. Deal?

Most NFL GM's said no thanks! The aren't giving up two 1sr round picks for his services. I hope sulky Lamar sits out the season.
The Steelers had a great draft in 2023. However better play calling / coaching is badly needed. Tomlin is 19-18-1 in last 38 games played and hasn't won a playoff game in six years and counting. Nor has hired anyone good to his coaching staff. Think about that. But Khan and Weidl appear to have better management on the salary cap and focused on the right free agents and draft needs.

Let's not be too hasty. Lamar has been good to us. I like beating his @ss. Plus, he can serve us well by tying up a lot of the ravens salary cap. I hope he gets signed by them; then they can continue to be a non-factor like they've been the last 4 years with him. He's serving his purpose of wasting away the prime of the other players on that team.

    You doubt what you want.

And when you're talking about $130M guaranteed, it becomes more about ego than anything else. Lamar is an amazing athlete. But I think he's about to find out that as a QB, he's not worth what Watson got (nor is Watson). But who knows, there's often a team dumb/desperate enough to do it.

I would guess that the Rats budged towards Kyler guaranteed money but wouldn't go near where Watson is. And Lamar feels slighted. Well, let's see what other teams offer. Personally, if I were running a team, I wouldn't offer Lamar even $130M guaranteed, given what's happened the past 2 seasons. Mahomes? Burrow? Hell yeah. Kyler, Lamar. No.

Boom............. it's taken awhile, but everone has finally came around to what I said about him coming out the draft over 4 years ago. Running, non-passing QB's are fool's gold. Time based baby.

I think Lamar is like Bell where he isn’t technically under contract so he doesn’t have to report. Did that change as well with the new CBA?

This report says he doesn’t have to report until right before the season and can’t get fined.

I know that it's potentially different than Bell because the CBA is different.

But it's a good point that it's different than TJ (who was under the 5th year option which doesn't require the player to sign like the tag I think).

Seems like I got that part wrong. Thanks.

Say what you want about Flacco, but if you're going to bet on yourself, you need to produce like he did during the bet period. He played out of his mind that season and cashed in. Unfortunately for the Rats, that was the end of the magic.

Lamar has to significantly elevate his passing game to be thought of as a great QB. He does jaw dropping things with his legs. But you have to be clutch in the passing game to be worth $200M guaranteed. Kenny was more clutch in the passing game in the 2nd half of the season than I've seen from Lamar. And everyone says he needs to significantly improve his game (which I agree with).

I don't think it's taken a while. Most people understand what Lamar brings to the table. It's just that you went way too far in discrediting him.
