If we run the same offense as last year, it won't matter. And if they do that and miss the playoffs again, Canada isn't the only coach who should be let go.

    Yep.

If the QB is good, then the rest of the stuff starts mattering a lot more.

If he's not, then the rest is just for nice marketing they can put on the home game programs.

Aren't both of you guys in the "Derek Carr/Kirk Cousins ceiling" camp for Pickett? If so, how do you expect him to carry an offense with a bad OC, average OL, and average weapons?

I've stated that position several times based on what he has shown so far. Being a Derek Carr/Kirk Cousins isn't an insult. IMO they are both top one-half to one-third of the NFL QB and a team can win with them, but the supporting cast is required. Everything KP did wrong last season wasn't someone else's fault. He was incredibly inaccurate at times. However, that said...I became more optimistic by the end of the season than I was going in.

As much as I want him to for the team's success, I don't think KP will ever be as good as Ben or any of the top young QBs in the NFL now. I hope he proves me wrong, but let's not blame someone else for everything. Elite QBs overcome shortcomings on their team...don't use them as excuses.
"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"

I'm in the "can't tell yet" camp.

If he's Kirk Cousins, I'll argue for not signing him to a 2nd contract. Because I think the way to win with a QB like that is on their rookie deal. And that you screw up your roster by giving them a market level deal.

But I think the Steelers would. Because I think they are more interested in being in the playoffs and hoping for good bounces than churning QBs to find one that's really good.

Then you must absolutely hate how they're building the team around him so far in the offseason - if he's what you think he is, they need to really go all in on the supporting cast, not just replace average with average.

I don't know what his ceiling is. If he is a Carr/Cousins then he is a QB a team can win with. Remains to be seen whether KP is a QB that carries a team.

If he’s cousins/Carr then you better surround him with above average guys to be successful.

Cousins had Cook, Jefferson and an upgraded O-line to win that division last year.
From the 2011-2022 season,(A 12 year period that the majority of Cowher's players & coaches had left) Mike Tomlin has only won 3 playoff games. And two of those wins were against back up Quarterbacks. Currently, Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in 6 years.

Steeler fans still loving on Tomlin now, are the same as Dolphin fans in the 90's who were still loving on Shula for what he did in the 70's

We should surround our QB with weapons regardless of who is under center.
