Addison strikes me as a guy who might excel by not being the focus alpha pass catcher. I think I read somewhere that 23 of his 59 catches at USC last season were screen passes. His future success depends much on where he lands and how he will be utilized.

      I was disappointed in Addison's 40 time.

when you only weigh 173 lbs, you need to run faster than that to be a high to middle first round draft choice.

And the quality of the QB throwing to him.

They will never recreate the same chemistry in the NFL as Pickett and Addison had at Pitt because the level of play is much higher and Addison is not a No.1 receiver, in the NFL. However, if anyone is a Pitt fan and just wants to draft someone out of PItt, I would be very OK with taking Calijah Kancey in the 2nd or 3rd and forgetting about drafting Addison. He is a little short but I think he is really good and is at a position of need, DL.
If you watched Kenny and Addison together you would understand the fascination. Damn near anytime they needed a play in crunch time it was Kenny throwing to Addison.

People complain about our lack of big plays on the passing game and not scoring TD’s and some wonder why Pitt fans would want Addison? Really?

          I’d take Kancey too.

But when we are screaming for more passing TD’s it shouldn’t be surprising that some people want the WR that Kenny threw the most TD’s too when he was a Hiesman candidate. Especially when it would have them back at the same facilities and playing on the same field they played on in college.

I thought it was suspect to put out 4.2/4.3 for Addison. Whether he thinks he is that fast or not, its messed up to predict a time that Addison has probably never ran in his life, lol.
I fully expected Addison to run in the 4.3s because of Pickett's prediction.

            maybe it's time based?

then maybe he isn’t a high first round choice and will be there later so we can get the OL or DL people have craved AND also get Addison in the second after we trade back from 32?

its not like “we”’need him to be a high draft pick and he is only as fast as he is.. lol. He was able to make a ton of plays at his speed. I think if Kenny never said 4.2 no one is disappointed with his 40 time.

I watched the Pitt games every bit as much as you did probably and even at the time, I felt it was more Pickett making him look good than how great Addison was, and I said that. So, we agree on Pickett but we will disagree to some extent of Addison. I don't think they will be able to recreate all those TDS at the NFL level, just for the reasons that I said. Addison will not get as open as he did at Pitt and he won't win the combat catches. His weight is very light in comparison to the best WRs in the NFL. I think he can get open, but it won't be all that easy as he is accustomed to.

Some Steeler fans are in love with Pitt players and Penn state players. I agree with you, Jordan Addison pro potential doses not warrant a 1st round pick and the Steelers have too many needs at other positions ( LT, LG , CB, S, DL , RB, and I say QB ) where the starter is well below that standards of what I would consider a decent NFL starter. Our starters at WR are good enough.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

+1 He is not a red zone player, and not a deep or tall receiver! His draft stock will fall, maybe as far as the 3rd round. He route tree is limited as a professional. Buyer beware.

There are some good examples of college QB/WR combos who have done great in the NFL like Burrow-Chase or Tua-Waddle but after seeing what the Steelers got out of the Rudolph-Washington connection I’ve kind of soured on the idea a little bit.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

those 4 were drafted at the top of the draft.
Don’t think it mattered much who the other guy was in each case

All fans of college teams are “in love” with their players because they watch them every week. I’m sure there are Texas fans who are the convinced Robinson will be the truth in the NFL based on his performance against TCU last year… 12 carries for 29 yards.

Yep. I don't want him. And I watched all the USC games last year.

What did you see that makes you think it's time to give up on a 1st round QB going into his 2nd year?

He definitely hasn't put it all together yet but in my opinion he showed enough progress in year one to warrant some optimism.
