3rd is too early. Do we have a 6th?

Sure seems weird to keep wanting to draft positions we just picked first the last 2 seasons.

No we do not have a 6th round pick is the 2023 NFL draft. We have two 7th's. That doesn't matter because Haener will be long gone by then. Players who thrive in the senior bowl practices and game MVP especially at quarter back tend to go early. The week features 106 players ( in 2022 ) that were drafted and gives a chance for non- power five prospects to stand out vs the best competition. Haener is at least a 4rd round pick, he may go higher. These old reports are written by who and when? Before senior bowl week when he proved to picks up to offense quickly, responded well to coaching, showed leadership, and most importantly showed the type of arm and accuracy that is needed at the NFL level.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

We do not have the draft capital to use a 3rd or 4th on a QB.

We have a below average staring QB, yes. He needs to prove many things fast. I'll gave him until next year, Thanksgiving. Last year rookie Purdy shown he was better and 1 game starter Sam Howell looked better. Other young QB's un-tested, but may prove to be better. I don't think the Steelers should spend a first round pick on a QB this year, but do the importance of the position, a third round or forth round pick yes we should. There is a chance a good chance ( better than 50% ) we have a guy who just stating now because he has turds in front of him. Are you happy with that? The excuses for Pickett's play that he was a rookie go out the door soon. Tomlin and Canada are in charge of the offense.

KP hasn't proven he's legit yet. I'm sorry but he just hasn't. But he also hasn't proven he's a miss either. The jury is still out on him. But I will say this....based on what we've seen as winning QB's the last few years, If he pans out to be only "serviceable" ..game manager type of "QB, then we need to go looking for another QB again. Because that's not going to cut it in today's NFL.

Look at the final 4 teams from the last conference championships. They were all play maker QB's. And those who dismiss Purdy, you can stop because he was getting it done in 49erville. Purdy was averaging two TD passes a game and having high yardage games too..when KP was averaging one TD pass a game barely.

Any talk about drafting a QB to replace Pickett is pure foolishness. There is ZERO chance KP is not the starting QB next season (barring injury). The Steelers DO NOT give up on first rounders even when they play terrible. They certainly are not changing the first-round guy they went out of their way to heap praise on as they only guy they wanted. And now we have a situation where KP is going into all off-season activities and next training camp as the starter and getting starter reps.

If they are not bringing in a FA as the back-up, then they need to draft a guy late. OL, DL, CB, LB are ALL way bigger needs. It would be insanity to draft a QB in the top 3 rounds after taking a QB in rd 1 a season.

Your exactly right. KP is the starter next year and management isn't giving up on him anytime soon. It's just not how they do things here in Steelerville. I believe Art said that Trubisky is indeed going to be here next year so I think that is the final bit of proof we need that QB isn't going to be taken in this draft whatsoever.

But Joel, it is dually noted how you feel about KP and I too have to see more from him as well to think he's the long term answer.

its damn near spamming the board to keep talking about drafting a QB early or giving Kenny “until Thanksgiving”

Joel isn’t giving Kenny until Thanksgiving, he has already made up his mind.

why are people still talking about Purdy too? He doesn’t play for us and everyone passed on him multiple times. Kenny goes 6-1 with 1 INT after the bye and these people are wasting keystrokes on drafting a QB early… smh.

You also thought Mac Jones was really good based on a small sample size.

It takes time to figure these things out.
