i do feel like its not a premium position. we don't draft as high as 17 very often so I'd rather go CB/LT. plus i didn't like hearing the above considering his strenght is supposed to be his strength

seems like you cna find capable guards later in the draft. foster going undrafted and playing so long is a prime example

Fair enough. I get your point. I was just trying to play it safe. So who would you take? Porter? or what LT?

ddepends on how the board plays out

I wouldn't take a WR there either. i think 3rd/4th round has some value this year

That’s where I slightly disagree and think you just have to go with the best guy overall at whatever position.

If you get an elite G, S, ILB, WR, TE, you take ‘em. I get that some of these positions aren’t the big money positions but you gotta get the difference make and integrate him into your system.

            Elite is elite.

Flippy, can you tell me all the elite guys you see in the first round?

I agree with this philosophy, that's how I would approach the draft.

If I knew that, I’d probably be a GM by now

It’s not yet clear which guys we should be looking at and who could be available to us by the time we pick.

There’s some guys at the less critical positions I mentioned that I do like. Branch and Mayer come to mind.

Neither TE or S is a position of top need for us. And these positions aren’t premiere game changing positions typically. But I think both of those guys are special players that I would still consider.

Campbell is another guy whose workouts are really putting him on the map. I think he could be elite at a non premiere position but I haven’t seen enough Iowa to feel strongly.

I also think Bresee could be available to us and I think he could be elite at a premiere position.

As a homer I’d also be intrigued by Addison and Porter but I’d also be more on the fence with both of those guys because I don’t see them being locks to being top players, just loads of potential and I’m not sure how much I like that in a 1st rounder??

I’d also add when it comes to elite LTs and CBs, I typically don’t expect an elite player at one of those positions to be available at 17. If a guy is still available, there’s a reason and probably a big question mark especially at those positions.

                      Campbell caught my eye a month ago and his work this week will get him more attention;

Let's assume the following guys are gone
                          CB - Witherspoon, Gonzalez
OT - Paris Johnson, Peter Skoronski, Broderick Jones

The Steelers hit the board with Porter, Addison, Ocyrus Torrence available.

Someone tell me which of the 3 you'd take and why it's a better selection than the other 2
wasn't that impressed with Addison's workout today.

at only 173 lbs I thought he would run faster than 4.55 and 4.49.

That is very disappointing especially since Pickett said he's a 4.31 guy.

I think Pickett did that on purpose. No one else ever said Addison was a 4.3 guy. This way he may drop if people were expecting 4.3. If he is there at 32.. I think we take him.

watching his highlights over the past year or 2.
he never looked like someone with those kind of jets.

Edit. damn 20 receivers ran faster than him.

mingo at 6’2 220 LBs ran a 4.46. I’d look at him later in the draft
