But the O is a clusterf-ck, which they knew from last season. I guess their theory about a "mobile QB" being the answer for all that ails the O was just dumb. All that O does is go 3 and out, in perpetuity.

They should’ve went with Mason. In some ways I wonder if they thought Mason may play well enough to make some noise so they picked Mitch.

Sounds crazy but it truly feels like they picked the worst of the 3 QB’s.

But then I think back to Ben or when Cowher picked Miller over Tomzack and Kordell. We still have this “everything but the QB approach” on offense which is weird.
Find my post for me and help me prove I’m Black

    I agree.

    My way to early draft:

    1.) Center
    2.) ILB
    3.) WR
    4.) OT
    5.) DL
    6.) QB
    7.) OT

    We don't apologize for winning!

It is weird. We had one franchise QB in Bradshaw, and he got us 4 SBs. Then we went bargain-bin hunting (except for Malone, who was a 1st round pick but a huge bust) for the next 20 years and had nothing to show for it. Finally, they trip over Ben and, boom, 2 more SB wins. Until Ben, Cowher had been low on QB focus. He wanted an OT until Rooney over-rode him.

They did use a 1st round on a QB this time, but fail to play him. They are acting like Mitch is good enough to win.....I guess if your D gets 5 turnover and the opposing long snapper gets hurt, it can work.

2 of 3 games against top 6 rushing teams, you'll give up some yards. I thought they'd been solid until the 2nd half of the Browns game.
Even still, it was 92 second-half yards on 25 carries. It seemed they gashed the defense, but that's not even 4ypc average. It's just 25 dang rushes in a half - i.e., commitment to the run

It boils down the the offense going numerous 3 and outs that the defense is going to tire and wear down. Chubb is probably the best back in the NFL right now. Their OL although banged up is still pretty good. Also, wasn't that like 3 games in 11 days.

This offense has to start carrying its load or it is going to get ugly.

I think the mistake was that they should have told the NFL they would no longer follow the salary cap. In addition, they should not have resigned Minkah. The should have offered the largest contracts in NFL history for at least 3 offensive Linemen. Thy should have given up two first round pick to Chicago for Roquan Smith to play ILB. They should have also traded for Jimmy Garoppolo and given up a 2nd round pick.

All that should fix what everyone is b!tching about because that can be done in fantasy Football.

Here we are 3 games into the 2022 season, and what has changed since 2021? In 2021 we knew a few things:

1.) We had one of the worst OLs in the NFL.
2.) We had THE weakest rush D in the NFL.

The OL is showing some progress - still one of the weakest in the NFL but showing some improvement.

But the rush D is still bottom 5 in the NFL and less than 1 yard per game from as bad as all of last year. WTF are the front office and coaching staff doing? It couldn't be any more obvious what the problems were and yet they still remain. This shows incompetence. There is no other way to look at it.

Either they failed to get the right players in the door to fix the issues, or the failures are in the schemes. Either way, "Mr. I never had a losing season" Shades is failing.

So, it's a given some teams have too many holes to fix in one off-season. OK. Well guess what? We STILL have other issues on top of those two. Our secondary is suspect with no clear #1 CB but 3's and 4's. Add that to the "most expensive D" in the NFL, without enough beef up front to stop the rush. They had ALL off-season to fix it, but what did they come up with? MORE failure, nearly as bad as the franchise-record worst of last year - within 1 yard a game of it.

Now, add a record-poor offensive production, and what does that give you: a zero chance of the playoffs or a playoff win. DO these guys get paid all year or do they have other careers during the off-season like the refs? Because it sure seems like they didn't do any work to fix jack sh-t in the off-season - not anything that made a difference anyways.
You are so dreery I bet your blood type is negative.

btw, Rocky Bleier reminded us that in the oldie days there were 10 weeks of camp and 7 exhibition games to figure out who was a starter and who wasn't. Imagine having that much time to evaluate some of these players.

    What Causes Negativity?
Negativity is often a product of depression or insecurity. It can stem from illness, life events, personality problems, and substance abuse. Like many things in life, negativity too, can become a habit. Frequent criticism, cynical thoughts, and denial can create neural pathways in the brain that encourage sadness. These negative tendencies can cause our brain to distort the truth and make it even more difficult to break the negative cycle. Luckily, most habits can be broken. Experts say that it takes 21 days to break a habit.
