Madden: Steelers champs of false bravado

    https://triblive.com/sports/mark-mad...-of-fake-news/

Love him or hate him, he is right once again. So much false bravado coming from the players these days, do you think a Hoodie team would be caught dead saying these things?

But no, Claypool meant top-three receiver in the entire NFL: ďI am not like the rest of the guys in the NFL.Ē

Thatís true in some respects. For example, no other receiver in the NFL jumps and falls down on every catch. Some actually run through receptions like youíre supposed to.

Like Mendenhall, Claypool is best known for a mistake: His idiotic, time-wasting first-down celebration that cost the Steelers a play in a failed late-game drive at Minnesota last Dec. 9. The Vikings won 36-28.

Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon listed himself among the NFLís top five cornerbacks.

Witherspoon has spent five seasons in the NFL and started less than half his teamsí games.

If Witherspoon covered Claypool, perhaps one would have a chance to live up to his ego. It would more likely be a Mexican standoff of sub-mediocrity.

But thatís how the Steelers are. They havenít won a playoff game in five seasons, but thereís been no shortage of chest-beating in the interim.

The Steelers are 100% a playersí team.

Mike Tomlin is a playersí coach.

Art Rooney II is a playersí owner. Everybody gets paid.

T.J. Watt got paid. Minkah Fitzpatrick got paid. Johnson will get paid. (Johnsonís not a No. 1-level receiver, but might get north of $18 million per season. It would be smarter to flush that money through a woodchipper.)

That management style isnít wrong. If you win.

But if the Steelers donít win, they can just say they did. A lot of fanboys would believe it.

    Mendenhall says he didnít fumble.

Claypool says heís a top-three receiver.

Witherspoon says heís a top-five cornerback.

Watt should say heís a Rhodes Scholar. The next dayís headline: ďSteelers Star To Study At Oxford.Ē

The Steelers are kings of fake news, and beneficiary of lowered standards.

Pittsburgh is no longer the City of Champions. Itís the City of Minimal Expectations.

I think the team is taking on the personality of its coach. After all Tomlin is the king of false bravado. Little substance behind his coach speak. Nevertheless, I hope Tomlin doesn't release hell on the fanbase all season. Wait a minute, he's already doing this with Matt Canada.
Steel Mafia wrote: "I would gladly welcome 25 Cartel associates and/or 15 Syrian terrorists with open arms

feltdizz on justifying Cameron Heyward's lies: "Cam is a leader, he just has a tendency to try and speak things into existence".

Shawn's RACIST narrative, "All black players are either run first, perverts or unable to handle the position cognitively".

Madden has been right a lot lately . I find his style to be a brash writer who doesn't go into details, the again he right and doesn't have too or can't. Either way its tough to argue with him now. As a coach Tomlin sure has the divas more so that the others coaches do on average and that's not a good thing. A good coach control his players. You don't see these problems on good playoff teams of Jimmy Johnson, or Bill Belichick because they won't tolerate the distractions and lack of focus on their teams. Mike Tomlin does and is one of the many knocks against him.
This year will tell a lot about the direction the Steelers are going in. One good thing is we got what seems like a hot draft class in Pickens, Leal, and Austin. Possibly Robinson.

Didnít hoodie lose 47 to 17 in the playoffs last year?

Being silent or vocal doesnít win or lose games.

and the Pats had a MURDERER on the team and Patrick Chung was caught with coke at his residence a year ago.

and the owner was caught on tape getting a happy ending.

If the Steelers had a murderer on their team you guts would say Tomlin was the mastermind.

Not sure how anyone can use the Pats as an example of discipline. Cheating to win? Sure.. but discipline? As if.. lol

Hoodie got a beat-down in the playoffs just like the Steelers. Doesn't matter much who says what.

Would you prefer they say 'woe is us', 'we suck', 'we don't have a chance, but we'll try real hard'??

    Dumb off-season take.

Bills scored TD’s on their first SEVEN possessions last year in the playoffs vs the Pats.

LoL, didn't realize Spoon said that. Add in Mason Cole saying they're going to get Najee 2000 yards, and Devin Bush saying he has nothing to prove since he was a top ten pick.

    Madden has a point here.

Didn't Hoodie win 8 super bowls? He is a no nonsense Chuck Noll type of coach. Like Chuck, Diva's didn't play for him...long anyway.

He is considered a top 5 coach of all time and owns many records in the playoffs.

No, Hoodie didn't win 8 SBs. Brady did. Hoodie is still waiting for his first SB without Brady. So let's hear the 'he won't win another SB without TB'.

Diz' assertions are too asinine to respond to, in all honesty.
