If Wright is truly their guy, we may have to take him at 17 ( I thought we could get him at 32) but now with a team like the Chiefs needing a little line help, he could get scooped up by the chiefs just before our 32nd pick.

Unless we know for gospel that the chiefs are going in another direction
( WR possibly ) that would be a concern to me.

trade down a bit of that happens.

If we don't get LT help, OL is really no better than last year.

This is not true. The competition and depth is better. Brown could take another positive step to become better this year. That doesn't mean the Steelers won't attempt to bring in competition for Brown in the draft or free agency.

Just admit the Steelers tooks steps in a positive direction for the Oline last season and for this season.

I think that the line is already better by the moves they've made, but finding a stud to replace Moore would be a leap. If we assume that Moore improves, we are now looking at hopefully an average LT instead of below average. One of the top draftable tackles should instantly come in as above average who needs fine tuning to become very good. This line has not had a stud anchor for many years. Even AV was merely average/slightly better and was always paid like it. It would be a whole new offense with a potential 10 year plug and play stud LT.

Honestly, with Wright, Dawand Jones and Anton Harrison I think you wait til 32 to make the pick (assuming the "big 3" are gone). I could be wrong but I just don't see all 3 of these second tier guys being viewed as 1st rounders by the guys between 18-31.

I agree with your assessment. It's the whisper that was wrong.

I think the Steelers Oline is in a better position depth wise to deal with poor or inconsistent play or the injuries that will likely happen at some point in the off season, during camps, or during the season.

2023 NFL MOCK DRAFT AND MARKET ANALYSIS

    17. Pittsburgh Steelers

    Darnell Wright, OL, Tennessee

The giant UT right tackle shut down Will Anderson during the 2022 season before taking the Senior Bowl by storm, earning offensive line MVP honors for his strong play and elevating Wright (6'5/333) to the first round discussion. There is a lot to like about him, as it's remarkable how polished his sets are in comparison to other linemen that had some physical advantages over him.
