Steelers sign safety Damontae Kazee to 1 yr deal

The Steelers signed safety Damontae Kazee to a one-year contract.

Kazee is entering his sixth season, playing his first four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons (2017-20) and last season with the Dallas Cowboys after they signed him as an unrestricted free agent.

Kazee finished the 2021 season eighth on the team with 54 tackles, 39 of them solo stops, two forced fumbles, two interceptions and four passes defensed. He was a defensive captain for the team in Week 3.

In his five seasons, Kazee has 241 tackles, 166 of them solo stops, and three tackles for a loss. He has 12 career interceptions, 17 passes defenses and seven forced fumbles.

I wonder if he'll end up having a bigger cap hit than Edmunds too.

Hopefully we got him on basically the same deal...because that Edmunds deal is awesome (cap hit of ~$1.2M).

On the stat surface, Kazee seems superior to Edmunds, no? I wonder if the "cutsie brother crap" will hurt Kazee's chances of winning the starting role over cutsie bro Edmunds?

    I like this signing..
    Update:
    In the last decade:
25% of the league has won a super bowl. The steelers are not one of them.
18 teams have as many or more playoff wins as the steelers.
25 teams have won at least one playoff game, none have a worse playoff win percentage than the steelers.

    I agree.

I'm hoping we still make equivalent types of signings like this at OT, DT, ILB, OLB and CB.

Damontae Kazeeís one-year deal with the Steelers includes a $152K signing bonus and a base value just north of $1M.

A nice value deal for Pittsburgh for a player with plenty of starting experience in his career.

I doubt they will hit all 5 positions with such a signing, but here's hoping.
