these random musings about spreading that $$ around for these random players is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. you got lucky as hell, you found a top 3 defensive player in the entire league in the mid 20s. no trouble off the field whatsoever, never caught smoking a blunt on the way to the team plane

he played out of his mind for 4 seasons and rewites the record for sacks 8n that time. he wants a fair market deal on a 2nd contract and you guys clutch your pearls like some boogeyman jumped out of the closet

the better question is why the fukin hell you wouldn't pay him
If he balls out for the next 5 years, it's all good. If he pulls a Woodley, or has a Shazier-type injury, not so much. I think (and obviously the Steelers are betting) that it will be the former.

Lots of players want "fair market deal" on their 2nd contract. And a good number of Steelers end up looking for it elsewhere. It's pretty hard to pay all your stars.

    Next up, Minkah.

I got a whole other thought process on Fitz's contract. But we'll save that for another day.

Win-win situation. QBs around the league are sad to hear this.

Steelers always. Why be a fan of any other team?

Being an extension and given his 10m salary this year.

itís more like 5 yr $122M contract. so just under 25m for the next 5 years.

like with bens big contract over the years. Iím sure the team will convert salary into more signing bonus with whatever cap room is left at the end of each year.
