    Getting to know 2021 Steelers draft prospect Pat Freiermuth with SKL

    Hey gang. As many of you know this is the time of year I go from observing to posting. I usually will take a behind the scenes look at a bunch of guys that should be on the Steelers radar (although admittedly not as many as I used to when I was hitting up the Senior Bowl and Combine every year). This thread will look at Penn St.-TE-Pat Freiermuth

    * Prototype NFL Size
    * knows how to use his body to gain separation at point of catch
    * nose for the end zone
    * Sneaky ability to get lost in coverage
    * Soft hands
    * shows ability to be a featured target
    * has body type to be a plus NFL blocker
    * is a tough get to the ground
    * shows a nice ability to set up defenders with deceptive head and arm movement

    * not an elite athlete
    * shows lack of focus on drops
    * is not yet a complete blocker
    * needs a better get off at line of scrimmage

    NFL Pro Player Comp= mix of Zach and Heath Miller
    Draft day Range= picks 65-90
    Teams competing to draft him- WFT/LAC/PHI/JAX/IND/CLE/NYJ/BUF/NE
    2021 Draft- Would love to drop down 7-10 picks and grab an extra 3rd and then use that 3rd to move up in the 2nd.

    1/??) Creed Humphrey-C-OU
    2/??) Asante Samuel-CB-FSU
    3/87) Trey Sermon-RB-OSU

    6/216) Tre Norwood-S-OU
    7/245) Quinton Morris-TE-Bowling Green
    7/254) Derrick Barnes-ILB-Purdue

    2022 Re-sign Minkah and Watt. Grab a stud LT and ILB in FA. Trade up for a QB

    I saw a few mocks of us picking him up in the 2nd round. Think he will last that long?

    2. TE Pat Freiermuth, Penn State (6-5, 260) ó The Steelers have been trying to replace Heath Miller for the past five years without much success. Finally, they might have an answer if they can grab Freiermuth in this spot. Freiermuth is considered the No. 2 tight end in this class behind Floridaís Kyle Pitts, who is expected to be a top-10 pick. This pick would solve a couple of problems the Steelers are facing. For one, Eric Ebron is entering the final year of his contract. Freiermuth would immediately become the No. 2 tight end and then become the starter in 2021. Another reason this makes sense is the Steelers need a solid blocking tight end to help the run game. Freiermuth can do that as a rookie. This pick also gives the Steelers some flexibility in replacing slot receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who is expected to leave as a free agent. Freiermuth isnít overly fast, but he is athletic and showed a knack for making big plays for the Nittany Lions.

    6.216 Divine Deablo S/ILB Va Teck
