No good way to spin it for Vannett. He was in a very bad spot with all the injuries.

It would be kinda like you moving into a new job at a company and they hired your boss fresh out of school. It could go well, but more likely not.

Obviously every other player on offense got a pass last year.
    Why didn't Vannett?
It wasn't like he was brought in for his receiving ability.
    His forte was blocking.
In the last decade, 25% of the league has won a super bowl(the Steelers aren't one of them) and 25% have as many or more playoff wins as the Steelers.

Yes. So the Steelers let him walk. That should tell you something about what they felt about his blocking ability. As well, $6M for a 3rd string blocking TE is too much to pay.

    NICK VANNETT
    TE, DENVER BRONCOS

Broncos signed TE Nick Vannett, formerly of the Steelers, to a two-year contract.
Vannett will be nothing more than a depth option and run-blocking tight end behind last year's first-round pick Noah Fant. The 27-year-old has compiled 591 receiving yards through four NFL seasons.

So it was a terrible decision to trade for him last year.
Plenty of game film to evaluate his blocking ability was available.
Once again, crazy how many on here said it was a great move, great blocker and Steeler type.
Compared him to Heath, equal to or better than Jesse etc etc.

FYI. 6 million for 2 years.

Vannett served his purpose and the team used him for what they needed on a rental basis. Now opportunity presented itself for a major upgrade in Ebron and another good move by the front office to get him.

Let's see what Munchak can do with him. Third team in his career smacks of being just a guy.

    We will see.
Kinda proves it was a terrible move on our part.

So if it was a terrible move to get Vannett then it must have been a good move to not resign Vannett and get a comp pick back as well.
We must all have to much time on our hands to be rehashing this small potato stuff!

Point being is when he was traded for it was a great move. He was compared to Heath, better than Jesse etc.
Now he's gone and those same fans are now saying he sucked.
Vannett wasn't given the same 'pass' that all our skilled guys got. I just wonder why?
The comp pick is a year later than we need and probably won't be 4th.
FYI. It's all small potato stuff on this board.
