If Ravens sign him there is more of a chance of him F-ing the team up than helping them. He's just so destructive.

NFL free agent Antonio Brown gets probation for fight with driver

Brown will serve two years of probation, undergo a psychological evaluation, attend an anger management course and perform community service.
I wonder what his community service will involve? Speeches to young kids on how not to be a douche and grow up like him?

ANTONIO BROWN SIGNING ODDS: WILL RAVENS OR SEAHAWKS TAKE THE RISK ON STAR RECEIVER?

NFL teams apparently can't help themselves when it comes to Antonio Brown. Baltimore and Seattle both reportedly are considering signing the former All-Pro.

It has been a few weeks since there was any news about Antonio Brown possibly returning to the NFL this season, so we were overdue for something. On Tuesday, the NFL Network's Mike Silver reported that both the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens have "had internal discussions" about signing the talented but troubled former All-Pro receiver who wore out his welcome in Pittsburgh, Oakland and New England.

Both those teams make some sense as a landing spot for Brown because they are led by very strong-willed head coaches who have 100 percent job security as former Super Bowl winners. Were Brown to be added to the roster and embarrass either Pete Carroll or John Harbaugh, they could just release Brown and it wouldn't affect their reputations or job futures.

In addition, Seattle and Baltimore both have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations, especially the Ravens. They are +650 second-favorites on the moneyline odds at William Hill sportsbook to win Super Bowl 55 in Tampa, while Seattle is +1800.

From a roster standpoint, the Ravens are thin at wideout behind second-year Marquise Brown, who so happens to be Antonio's cousin. Antonio, Marquise and Baltimore QB Lamar Jackson worked out in Miami earlier this year. Jackson has expressed support of signing Brown and Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta hasn't ruled it out.

Seattle could use an upgrade at No. 3 receiver behind Tyler Lockett and second-year DK Metcalf. It could be the Seahawks might have more interest in bringing back Josh Gordon, though. He has applied for reinstatement to the NFL.

Brown is legally clear to return to the NFL as earlier this month in Florida he pled no contest to felony battery charges and was sentenced to 100 hours of community service with two years' probation. However, Brown would be facing NFL discipline for that and due to his inclusion in a 2019 civil suit from a woman accusing him of sexual misconduct and rape. Silver reported around an eight-game suspension is likely.

So even if some team is stupid enough to sign him they will only get 1/2 a season, which in reality is probably a quarter season by the time he learns the playbook.

First Call: Judge scorns Antonio Brown; former Steeler opts out of season; Austin Meadows returns

Wednesday’s “First Call” recaps a tough day on the legal front for former Steeler Antonio Brown. Another former Steeler is opting out of 2020’s season because of coronavirus concerns. And Austin Meadows makes an impact in his return for the Tampa Bay Rays.

Gavel comes down on Antonio Brown

The myriad of court cases involving Antonio Brown continue to wind their way through the legal system.

One of them may still impact his return to the NFL, even though he has been granted permission to play after Week 8 of the 2020 regular season.

That’s if a team signs him in the first place.

More on that in a minute.

A legal matter Brown hasn’t resolved yet is that accusation he trashed a Florida condo he was renting in April 2018.

Via a Fox News account of the incident, “video shows furniture falling from the sky and into the pool and onto the pool deck … workers and sunbathers (were) running for cover as the furniture began to rain down on them. … The attorney representing the condo told WSVN-TV that the free-agent wide receiver tossed the items from the balcony in a fit of rage after he alleged someone had stolen $80,000 from him.”

Brown countersued. And that’s not going well for him.

The Athletic’s Daniel Wallach reports that Florida Circuit Court judge Beatrice Butchko sanctioned Brown for attempting to deliberately delay civil court proceedings. The court still has yet to determine the financial damages, but the judge also rendered a default judgment against Brown, ruling in favor of the condo owner.

Wallach reports the landlord is seeking over $200,000 in damages based on physical damage to the unit, repair costs and the loss of rental income for four months.

Details of the judge’s opinion are less than flattering toward Mr. Big Chest.

According to dictionary.com, “contumacious” means “stubbornly perverse or rebellious; willfully and obstinately disobedient.”

Yup. That’s the A.B. we know and love! Did he wear his blue cleats and specially designed Raiders helmet to the proceedings?

    But wait! There’s more.

UPDATE: Judge enters amended order that provides more details on how Antonio Brown "purposely impeded the orderly prosecution of this matter." Among the transgressions: "eating during the deposition" and "using his cell phone during pauses in questions or rulings on objections."

I think that’s how most team meetings went in the wide receivers’ room at the Steelers headquarters too, don’t you?

Will Antonio Brown get signed during training camp?

Posted by Mike Florio on August 5, 2020

It’s been nearly a week since the NFL gave receiver Antonio Brown (partial) clarity regarding his status, with an eight-game suspension to be served in 2020 and, potentially, further punishment of an unresolved civil lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault and rape.. Since then, no team has been linked to him in any serious way.

The question becomes whether he’ll be signed during training camp, or whether teams will simply wait until his eight-game suspension ends. Given that he’s currently free and clear to participate in camp, this would be a great opportunity to get him in shape and to teach him the system before a mandatory two-month break.

One problem is that teams still can’t bring in players for tryouts. A team interested in Brown, at this point, would have to simply sign him and hope for the best.

And there’s the issue that, per a league source, currently is keeping teams from hiring Brown. He can say all the right things before he lands with a team. The concern is that, once he does, he’ll revert to being difficult.

For that reason, Brown needs to be signed to a low-risk contract that allows for a stern one-strike approach. Quite possibly, he’ll have to agree to a deal that pays the minimum salary and that ties his ultimate compensation to performance. For now, he may not be interested in that approach.

Regardless, there’s currently no sense of overwhelming interest in Brown. Although injuries and/or COVID-19 positives could change that, it could be that teams will wait until the suspension ends (or is close to ending) before signing him.

He'll get signed after week 8, by a contender who suffers injuries at WR, if there is one.

I've read in a few places that his suspension begins whenever he signs with a team. Not sure if that's accurate but that would mean if someone wants him for the second half of the season, then they need to sign him before the first game.

But then I've read elsewhere that the suspension begins with the start of the season, regardless if he's signed or not. That's probably correct.

Still, this all hinges on him not doing anything stupid that could extend the suspension. And that's still a gamble with him.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

Yeah.. I’m not surprised by the probation. I think Seattle signs him now or right before week 8 if he doesn’t have to be on a team while serving his suspension.
I lost a bet about Najee gaining 1300 yards.

"Our head coach has failed to win a playoff game for seven years in a row. His game day strategy, culture of divas, in game decisions, clock management, player evaluation, hires, and affinity with sub par starters at RB, P, and OL are holding the Steelers back. That standard remains the standard"
