So you're essentially agreeing with me that there are a number of coaches out there that would make good or even great head coaches that most fans aren't familiar with.
I don't honestly care how other coaches are viewed around the league, there are so many poorly coached and managed NFL teams these days. Not to mention the constant recycling of coaches. Coaches can do a poor job with one team and when they are fired they are hired the next day by another team.
Mike Tomlin had one year of experience as a coordinator at the NFL level before he was hired as head coach, not many fans were familiar with him when he was hired. You can even think Tomlin has done a good job as head coach and still think it's time for a change, it's OK.
I have no idea if the next one we pick will be as successful as the last 3.
A lot of people on here said we would be fine on offense without our drama B’s but look where we are right now on offense.
One thing going for Tomlin backers is any success after him will be credited to him until there is a complete roster overhaul.Comment

doubt that... i know it happened for Cowher, but i don't see the same courtesy extended to MT, but it depends on the fan, i suppose. Some fans don't like him and the reasons aren't so black and white...2013 MNF Executive Champion!Comment

But it’s still going to be fun using that stupid “Cowhers Team” excuse for 12 years.
If Devin Bush and Johnson are still on the team... it’s Tomlins players.
Totally new 53 roster or Tomlin gets credit.
Some of these older fans will be in hospice while Tomlin is still getting credit for Steeler wins!!!Comment

Makes plenty of sense; me and other Steeler fans talk about it all the time out here. And again, please stop making up stuff about what I said. I predicted he'd be on the hot seat last year, and he is. And I'm predicting THIS will be his last year.
Regardless, we will not win another super bowl with Tomlin as our head coach. So..why delay the inevitable?

I'll drop this link in my sig too so I don't have to hunt for it later.
I think having on contract for another 2. 5 years isn't putting him on the hot seat isn't valid, but it's subjective.
A termination (or trade?) date isn't.
FWIW if we got WSHs 1st rounder next year, I hope you'd be right.Comment

As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.
but Go Steelers!!!Comment

Wait... Your saying in lying about you saying he'd be fired last year or this year because you're only saying he'll be fired / traded I guess this year (without the possibility of him being fired last year)?

He's still under contract for the next 2.6 seasons and may hold the option on the next (but I think it's probably a team option).Comment

A one year extension to a relatively young coach is not a vote of confidence. It’s a way of quoting players talk in the locker room about the future of the team. Players can and should remain focused on their jobs and not speculate about the coach’s future. Rooney’s put that to bed by giving him that one year extension and I applaud them for it.Comment

While making the 16th year guaranteed in the contract would have shown "more confidence" (again assuming Tomlin isn't the one who holds the option), it's really hard for me to buy the argument that re-upping for the 15th season (and maybe the 16th) before the 13th season starts somehow puts his job in immediate jeopardy.
