    Does Our ST Suck?

We get no positive yardage on our returns and SF seemed to get extra yards on all of their punt returns.

    What gives?

So many missed tackles on our side is embarrassing. And it makes a difference in a close game.

You do know that Danny Smith has never had a below .500 season with the Steelers.

ST is low on my sh!t list but Danny Smith should have been canned last year. At least Boswell looks good.

It's hard for me to be objective about it, but it seems we always have some zero like Switzer back there who we all know will never break one. And we always seem to have a bunch of guys who overrun the play, and let a zero yard catch turn into 10. Been like that for many years, whether the team is good or bad.

Punt and kick returns is basically a non factor in today's NFL.
We have much bigger issues than the few yards per game that separate the best and worst ST.

We're well below the line in all three phases, IMO. We were good at getting turnovers, though. That's a positive.

Special teams: Chris Boswell remains perfect on the season. He made his only two attempts Sunday to stake the Steelers to an early lead. Punter Jordan Berry averaged 52 yards per punt and had a 60-yarder, but his coverage wasn’t up to the task. 49ers punt returner Richie James, Jr. had five returns for 53 yards. The Steelers’ return game, meanwhile, remains a non-factor. Johnny Holton had two kickoff returns for a paltry 21-yard average and failed to generate any yardage on punt returns.
