What you don't grasp is that at some point you move on. And most likely the person we move on with probably isn't going to have HC experience. Just like Tomline didn't have when he took the job; Just like Sean McVay didn't have when he took the Rams job. Just like Matt Nagy didn't have when he took the Bears job. etc. etc.

Just because you don't have the experience doesn't mean your not better then your predecessor.

McVay didn't have more experience then Jeff Fischer who's place he took. And Fischer took a Titans team to a Super Bowl.
But there is no one now who doesn't think McVay is a better coach then Fischer.

Doug Peterson didn't have more experience then Andy Reid. Who do you think the people in Philly love more now? Peterson got them a ring.
The point is not " nobody is better than Tomlin" the point is that the Rooney's make the assessment of whats best for the team based on the best information available, so obviously if they are extending Tomlin they think he is the best option. What you are saying is no there are better options but you cant seem to list any. So are the Rooneys keeping the best option or not? If not what info do you have that they dont?

I think you saw the light when we replaced Dick Lebeau with Keith Butler and realized the grass isn't always greener.

Don't worry, when we replace Tomlin with Keith Butler, the rest of us will long to have Tomlin back...

Or when we replaced Arians with Whiz after appearing in 2 of 3 super bowls... and haven't been back to the SB since.

In some ways, I think Lebeau and Arians deserved a longer leash than Tomlin.

Dolphins Regret Minkah Fitzpatrick Trade, but not Laremy Tunsil

    Updated March 1, 2020
    By Charlie Campbell

The Miami Dolphins started to accumulate picks for the 2020 NFL Draft during the 2019 NFL Draft, and they really put that operation into high gear during the 2019 season. At the end of training camp, they traded left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Texans for two first-round picks and then during the season they traded safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Steelers for a first-round pick. Those deals have Miami loaded up with lots of draft picks on the opening night of the draft over the next two years, but they came at a price of opening up more needs on the their roster. From speaking to sources with Miami, the team regrets the Fitzpatrick trade but does not regret the Tunsil trade.

The Fitzpatrick trade happened when the Steelers were placing quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on injured reserve, ending his season, so Miami thought the Steelers' first-round pick could end up being a top-10 selection. Fitzpatrick helped lead Pittsburgh to a number of wins, and the team almost made the playoffs, so that pick is 18th overall. Sources with the Dolphins say things got off on the wrong foott shortly after Fitzpatrick was drafted and things never got in sync for Fitzpatrick with the Miami organization. The Dolphins knew he was a good player, and in the weeks after the trade, sources say Miami regretted making the trade.

You think they regret it now, wait until he's made multiple pro bowls, helped us to a couple of Super Bowl titles, and gets voted into the HOF

    ...................
From the 2010-2019 season, (A 9 year period that the majority of Cowher's players & coaches had left) Mike Tomlin has only won 3 playoff games. And two of those wins were against back up Quarterbacks.
Dolphin fans in the 90ís who wanted to hold on to Don Shula for what he did in the 70ís...

Are the same as Steeler fans (of 2020 ) holding on to Tomlin for what he did in 2008.

    Maybe the pro bowls.
Of course, if the player is disgruntled and wants out. Not much you can do.
In the last decade, 25% of the league has won a super bowl(the Steelers aren't one of them) and 25% have as many or more playoff wins as the Steelers.
