Report: Steelers S Sean Davis Suffered Torn Labrum Against Seahawks

The Pittsburgh Steelers acquired versatile defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Miami Dolphins Monday night and that required them giving up a 2020 first-round draft pick as part of the package. It will now be interesting to see how the Steelers ultimately use Fitzpatrick on defense moving forward and especially with safety Sean Davis reportedly now dealing with a shoulder injury.

According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Monday night, Davis suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder in the teamís Sunday home loss to the Seattle Seahawks. That injury, however, is not expected to end Davisí season.

Davis announced in May of 2017 that he played most of his 2016 rookie season with a torn labrum. However, its unclear still which shoulder that was.

Davis played 55 of the 79 total defensive snaps that the Steelers had Sunday against the Seahawks and he left the game later in the second half with his shoulder injury. Davis missed the Steelers regular season opener against the New England Patriots with an ankle injury.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will hold his weekly press conference on Tuesday and hopefully heíll give a status update on Davis at that time.

As much as Davis gets bashed, got to wonder if the Seahawks 2nd half success was because Davis was out of the game????

I think a lot of the success vs us in the passing game was because Davis was out vs Brady as well.

that and we looked gassed in the 2nd half...and that has as much to do with the ineptness of the offense (3 and outs) as anything. Also says something about butlers inability to make in game adjustments in the 2nd half (shadowing wilson) etc

Fitzpatrick is undoubtedly a talented player. You can debate the price the Steelers paid to acquire him, but he's talented. However, there is another issue here. The Steelers came into this season without adequate depth at safety. The depth behind Davis and Edmunds was paper thin. The Steelers completely ignored the position during the draft and in free agency and were counting on an undrafted rookie as the top backup. Their lack of preparation forced them into this move.

They took the same gamble at TE. Seeing McDonald in the medical tent on Sunday was just a reminder of how thin the depth is at that position.

I realize that you can't be 3 starters deep at every position, but the FO came into this season without adequate depth and was essentially forced to make a trade.

Is it for sure he's playing safety?
From the 2010-2018 season, (An 8 year period that the majority of Cowher's players & coaches had left) Mike Tomlin has only won 3 playoff games. And two of those wins were against back up Quarterbacks. Our history has been defined by what we do in the postseason; not the regular season.

My official proclamation: WE WILL NOT WIN ANOTHER SUPER BOWL WITH MIKE TOMLIN AS OUR HEAD COACH. SO WHY DELAY THE INEVITABLE?

    Steelers place Davis on IR

The Steelers placed safety Sean Davis on the reserve/injured list today after he suffered a shoulder injury in the team’s loss to the Seahawks on Sunday.

Davis is in his fourth season after being selected in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Going into the season Davis had 238 total tackles, including 181 solo stops, two and a half sacks, five interceptions, 20 passes defensed, a forced fumble and a fumble return. Against the Seahawks he had five tackles while starting his 41st career game. He missed the Patriots game with an ankle injury

The team also added quarterback Paxton Lynch, signing him to the practice squad.

Lynch was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the 26th pick overall. Lynch played in five games with four starts and was waived shortly after making the initial 53-man roster in 2018.

He didn’t play in the 2018 season and signed a futures contract with Seattle after the season. The Seahawks waived him this year when they had to get down to the 53-man roster.

The Davis move opens a roster spot for Minkah Fitzpatrick, who the Steelers traded for.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.
