Zach Gentry is going to win down the seam. Build-up speed player, long strider, use his size to be a big target for quarterbacks. That’s his game. If he has to break down and change directions, he’s going to struggle. Get him vertical.

    • Is Kevin Rader improving his stock in the race for the No. 3 tight end? The Pine-Richland product repped multiple times Thursday, supplanting fifth-round pick Gentry. Known more for blocking, Rader showed good hands with multiple “traffic” catches, including a touchdown.

    • Former rugby player Christian Scotland-Williamson had a strong practice, at one point sealing Anthony Chickillo on the edge with a block. But Scotland-Williamson mostly gained notice for a “combat catch” for a touchdown in an 11-on-11 red-zone simulation. Coach Mike Tomlin grinned and yelled, “You just scored in American football, baby! Nice play!” Then Tomlin pointed across the field to tight ends coach James Daniel and said, “I know ‘JD’ is excited about this!”

This is true. Vance runs some arrows you wont see that here. Hooks yes and they have used that a bunch sort of posting him up with one so tall. Too the drags he has done well with. And unlike the Ohio St game his hands to this point have been very good.

Steelers sign Micky Crum, Christian Kuntz

Posted by Josh Alper on August 15, 2019, 3:39 PM EDT

The Steelers wrap up their training camp on Thursday and they marked the occasion by making a series of roster moves.

The team announced the signings of tight end Micky Crum and linebacker Christian Kuntz. Linebacker JT Jones and cornerback Jermaine Ponder were dropped from the 90-man roster in corresponding moves.

Crum took part in the 49ers’ rookie minicamp after going undrafted out of Louisville earlier this year. He caught 22 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown during his final collegiate season.

Kuntz is a Pittsburgh native who played his college ball in town at Duquesne. He has spent time with the Patriots, Broncos and Jaguars over the last three years without seeing any regular season action.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Once upon a time, New England had Mike Hilton in their camp and they let him go.

We snatched him up, and he's now an integral part of our secondary.

Plus, half of our OL on our projected 53 man roster entered the league as UDFA's (Villanueva, Foster, Feiler, Finney).
