    Another Feel Good Shazier Accomplisment

Forget the offseason AB and Bell garbage. Shazier is incredible. (Help with making this a clickable link would be appreciated)

    All the drama crap aside...

This is why this is such a great organization. They signed to a contract pretty much knowing he will never play another down again in the NFL. They did it because they are a class group of people...giving him the goal the desire to prove my second sentence completely wrong.

This is why I love the Steelers and will always be a Steeler fan.

People mention Ernie Holmes and the shooting incident...they never include how the Rooneys gave support to him in his time of need.

Well said. I don’t know many, if any, that would support Shazier as much as the Rooneys have. His recovery is amazing to watch.

So happy for him. I think he’ll be able to play with his kids now and do the things you want to normally do.
From the 2010-2018 season, (An 8 year period that the majority of Cowher's players & coaches had left) Mike Tomlin has only won 3 playoff games. And two of those wins were against back up Quarterbacks. Our history has been defined by what we do in the postseason; not the regular season.

But certain players don't believe the Steelers would honor their contract if injured. They want the big guaranteed $$.
( and to be honest given AB's behavior over the years, I don't think I would fault the Steelers for it if they didnt).

Ehh, Shaziers injury shouldn’t be used as proof for how we honor contracts.

That was a life altering injury.

Glad we are doing the right thing but let’s not act like we won’t ever release an injured player.

Ryan Shazier: I still want to make the Hall of Fame

Posted by Josh Alper on June 27, 2019, 6:50 PM EDT

Ryan Shazier will spend a second season on the Steelers’ physically unable to perform list as a result of the spinal cord injury he suffered during a 2017 game, but he hasn’t wavered from his goal of returning to the football field.

Shazier has made great progress in his recovery, including walking, jumping and dancing with his wife at their wedding. At a football camp held at his former high school by his high school teammate and personal trainer, Shazier confirmed he wants those steps to continue until he’s playing again.

“I still want to make the Hall of Fame, still want to be the best linebacker in the NFL, “Shazier said, via David Furones of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “I’m not giving up on my goals, and the doctors said don’t give up on my goals, so there’s no problem with me doing that. I’m just going to keep working, and hopefully I’m going to be back as soon as I can.”

Shazier demonstrated an exercise to strengthen the back for the football campers, which is one of many things that it was unclear he’d be able to do again when he first went down. He said progress like that has left him thankful for “every day that I take another step, take another breath” whether or not he reaches those goals.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Selfishly dreaming of Shazier and Bush playing together in the middle someday. WOW!!!

Realistically, I have to believe he'll never play again. But I think its awesome if that goal is one of the factors fueling his recovery. I hope he remains with the organization for a long time - even if just as a coach/consultant.
