I could see that as well...
From the 2010-2018 season, (An 8 year period that the majority of Cowher's players & coaches had left) Mike Tomlin has only won 3 playoff games. And two of those wins were against back up Quarterbacks. Our history has been defined by what we do in the postseason; not the regular season.

Sounds like Lee will hold only a little value for the Jets. Trade a 6th or 2 for him?

After the Devin’s it’s a fair bit of a drop in quality at ILB. Going with Lee for a year isn’t the worst idea. If it doesn’t pan out the way they want, so be it, grab a guy next year. If it does pan out, great!

Darron Lee shows up for start of Jets workouts

Posted by Darin Gantt on April 8, 2019, 11:05 AM EDT

The start of offseason programs can be awkward for players whose names have been on the trade rumor circuit all offseason.

Jets linebacker Darron Lee is showing up as normal, however.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the former first-round pick was on hand when the Jets began this morning.

He became surplus to requirements when the Jets signed linebacker C.J. Mosley to a five-year, $85 million contract.

Lee might have underperformed considering his draft status (the 20th overall pick in 2016), but he would likely interest others considering he’s still on his rookie contract.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

Darron Lee not at Jets minicamp

Posted by Josh Alper on April 23, 2019, 11:57 AM EDT

There’s been trade chatter involving Jets linebacker Darron Lee this offseason, but that didn’t stop him from reporting to the first week of team’s offseason program a couple of years ago.

Lee is taking a different approach to this week’s minicamp. According to multiple reports from the Jets facility, Lee has joined Le'Veon Bell in choosing not to take part in Tuesday’s work.

The Jets are holding a minicamp at this point because they have a new coach this season. It’s a voluntary session, which means Lee has no obligation to attend. The team will hold a mandatory minicamp in June.

Lee was a first-round pick in 2016, which leaves the Jets with a decision to make about exercising their fifth-year option on his contract by May 3. Given the trade chatter and the big contract they just gave to C.J. Mosley, it seems unlikely that the option will be exercised unless Lee is traded in the next week to a team that does so.

Report: Jets to decline fifth-year option on Darron Lee

Posted by Curtis Crabtree on May 2, 2019, 12:07 AM EDT

The New York Jets will decline their fifth-year option on 2016 first-round pick Darron Lee, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

The option for 2020 would have earmarked approximately $10 million in injury guarantees only for Lee, who was the 20th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Instead, Lee will become a free agent next March instead.

Lee has appeared in 40 games for the Jets over the last three seasons with 36 starts. However, he was suspended for the final four games of last season due to substance-abuse policy violation. He’s compiled 241 tackles with four sacks and three interceptions over his time with the Jets.

The Jets have reportedly been floating Lee in possible trades all offseason without any luck up to this point.

No to Lee and his red flags.

Tre Boston is still sitting out there ... would be a big upgrade over Sean Davis, IMO.

Boston's an odd case. He always seems to perform well on the field, but then only last one season on multiple teams. And the contracts he ultimately signs are relatively minor one year deals. Why doesn't his previous team want to retain him for the relatively inexpensive cost that he ultimately gets to move on elsewhere? There has to be something going on behind the scenes where this dude wears out his welcome quickly, because nothing else really seems to make sense.

    Think about it...

After being drafted in the 4th round in 2014, his first two years in the league he is primarily just a backup for the Panthers, but then in his 3rd season, he becomes a starter in Carolina and does pretty well. 53 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 INT, 7 PD. Not bad. So what happens after this breakout season as starter? Carolina cuts him a few days after the 2017 draft (a draft in which they did not take a safety, by the way). Odd.

So he signs a deal with the Chargers a couple weeks later (1 year, $900K). He earns a starting job and performs well there too. 79 tackles, 5 INT, 8 PD. Nice. But when that contract expires, he does not get an extension from the Chargers or a big deal from any other team for that matter.

He settles for another 1 year deal, this time in Arizona for $1.5M. He earns a starting job and performs well there yet again. 79 tackles, 3 INT, 9 PD, 1 FF. Good stuff. But once again, when that contract expires, he does not get an extension from the Cardinals or a big deal from any other team for that matter.

Something has to be up with this dude for him to have 3 successful seasons as a starter with a very affordable cap hit for a starter, and then have 3 teams in a row just allow the dude to walk away for nothing rather than re-sign him to another contract. It just doesn't add up otherwise.

Maybe he's a locker room cancer? If so, we want no part of him.

However, I've heard nothing negative about him in regard to character or interactions, so .... ??
