Even during the dynasty, we failed if even ONE of those players was injured.

    People bring up BB.
Belichick is a notable exception.....not the rule which is why he is GOAT without question.

how did BB the coaching genius do while he coached the Browns?

I wish people would/could leave politics out of a Steelers Football Forum.

He did pretty well. He inherited a 3-13 team, doubled that win total in his first year, and then had two 7-9 seasons.

He then had an 11-5 year and went to the playoffs, where the Browns won a game. Belichick coached the only Browns playoff win in the last 30 years.

In his final year, the owner (Art Modell) pulled the rug out from under the team and announced, in the middle of the season, that he was moving the franchise to Baltimore.

The Belichick of that time was not as strong a coach as he is today - the franchise move wasn't something he had anticipated and he was unable to hold the team together through that turmoil.

A good coach is one that meets or exceeds expectations. A great coach does this on a regular basis.

If Tomlin went to the Lions and won 7 games his first year, they'd erect a statue of him. But here in Pittsburgh, with the best roster in the league for years, it's Superbowl appearance or better. Possibly AFC championship is acceptable. 1 and done, missing playoffs, etc is well below expectations, which is why Tomlin is a lousy coach for THIS team. That is a fact

    1. Why did Cowher miss the playoffs the year after winning the SB?

    2. Also why didn't he win (or even make) the SB the 4 times he was the 1 seed?

    3. Also if coaching is more important than talent why do you argue that comparing Tomlin to Cowher isn't reasonable because Tomlin has had a more talented QB for his whole career?

    4. And why does it matter that Tomlin won with Cowher's players?

    5. Finally, can you explain the difference between BB on the Browns and the Pat's?

That’s not what you said. You flat out said what he did was luck because you had no answer for my example of Mcvay. Don’t start back peddling now. You are not a cornerback. Lol
From the 2010-2018 season, (8 years after Cowher's players & coaches had left) Mike Tomlin has only won 3 playoff games. And two of those wins were against back up Quarterbacks. Our history has been defined by what we do in the postseason; not the regular season.

There's no right answer to this question.

However it all starts with leadership and good communication.
Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go...
Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go...
Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go...!!!

    This doesn’t make sense.

First off McVey has to be able to show consistency before he is crowned.

The Rams also acquired Suh, Peters, Talib and Cooks because they had 45 mill in cap space and have Gohff on a rookie contract for 7.6 mill in cap space.

Jeff Fisher sucked, hates QB play and always went 7-9.

McVey also looked like a lost puppy in that SB.

McVey looks to be good but he also had a ton of talent added to the roster AND needed blind refs to help them beat the Saints.

    That’s not what I said.

The previous year, there was no Suh, Talib or Peterson. He took the exact same players from a 4-12 team and made them 11-5 or 12-4 with his coaching. And stop deflecting to “ we gotta wait”. Wait for what? He took the same players and made them double digit winners. Pure and simple coaching was the difference.

Look at the Jags 2 years ago. AFCCG and this year they were trash.

    What changed?

Also remember this was a Ram team that was leaving St Louis in 2016.

Seems odd to crown a coach 3 years into his career. How successful was Tomlin 2 years into his career?
