Sorry if the truth hurts, but the fact is Rooney's opinion is the one that is actionable. Everything else is in reality noise. The opinions of the powerless minority owners don't matter. What is stated here could be right, could be wrong, could be a combination of both...but in the end nothing it just opinions. Nothing wrong with that but some seem to get frustrated when nothing comes of their opinions. In this type of situation that is just crazy.

I think that his comment includes himself as his opinion is meaningless as well. I don't perceive it as an insult.

It is a valid point. That said......

OV, it is a message board. It's kinda what we do.

Kinda like your rants FOR YEARS that we fire Lebeau.

Speaking of things that may "Hurt"... here's a fact for you... since you say you care what Rooney thinks (related to Mike Tomlin)....

Rooney went from calling Mike Tomlin "One of the best coaches in the league" at this time last year... to basically saying in early January that nobody is off the hook in terms of this year's disappointing season. Now he may try to walk that back at time point... in an attempt to "Circle the wagons" so to speak. It would behoove him to do so for obvious reasons...

But his initial assessment "Post season" speaks volumes to me...and it certainly should to you as well, seeing as how Rooney's opinion is all that concerns you.

Per Bouchette, Rooney said on Wednesday the Steelers' failure to make the playoffs was "tough to swallow."
"When you miss the playoffs, nobody gets absolved," Rooney said, per Bouchette. "I think everybody knows we need to do better, including Mike."

Even with a franchise QB, it's not easy winning SBs:

George Seifert replaced Joe Montana with Steve Young. He also had Jerry Rice, arguably giving him a better quarterback, wide receiver combos than Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown. He only won one Super Bowl with Joe Montana and one with Steve Young.

The Green Bay Packers had Brett Farve for 16 years and went 1-1 in Super Bowls. succeeded him with Aaron Rodgers, yet have only added 1 more Lombardi to the case under his watch.

The Colts of course followed Peyton Manning with Andrew Luck but are still waiting on their latest Lombardi.
Bill Belichick and Tom Brady have indeed authored a Super Bowl era that has lasted 18 years an counting, an incredible achievement which they very well might add to this evening.

But even the vaunted Patriots went 10 years between Lombardi Trophies.

Not really.... even the pats went 10 years between trophies at one point.
From the 2010-2018 season, Mike Tomlin has only won 3 playoff games. And two of those wins were against back up Quarterbacks. Our history has been defined by what we do in the post season; not the regular season.

Spot on assessment by Rooney. No change.
Rooney call Tomlin one of the best coaches in the league- He was right.
He said regarding this season "nobody gets absolved....everybody knows we need to do better, including Mike."- Still correct.

There are mostly two extremes here:

    1. Tomlin was NEVER any good.
    2. Other factors are most responsible for our downturn THIS season and were beyond Tomlins control.

The truth is Mikes history reveals a "good" coach.
This was his worst season as a coach, and he bears LARGE responsibility for the downturn.

His history is why his leash is long......but a repeat of last season will rightly put his job in jeopardy.

I STILL think he is a good coach. I have no doubt Tomlin knows what he needs to do.

He just might not be able to do it here.
