    Uncharted Waters-Salary Cap

Steelers could have over $26M in cap space this coming of season thanks to L. Bell. Can't remember the last time we were in that situation and it could be even more with some folks cut loose.

This is not a bad situation for a team with the second best record in the AFC.

Could secure key future players and maybe add a critical piece or two. Everyone will want to get a premier CB but that will take a huge chunk of this money. Thoughts?

Extend McDonald, Hilton and Ben will take up most. But letting Foster and Gilbert go will help to sign some mid tier.

Remember, if you sign a big ticket outside free agent this offseason, that would cancel out the 3rd round comp pick in 2020 that most fans expect to receive for losing Bell after this year.

We're on the books for $23.2m for Ben next year. Any chance his number could come down?

We're also on the books for $22.1m for AB. That's a big # for a WR.

There's some other big #s for guys I don't think are worth the #s. I bet the Steelers could free up even more money if they really wanted to.

If the Steelers use the transition tag on Bell, as they've said they will, there will be no such comp pick anyway.

So might as well sign the big ticket FA, if the right one comes available.

Avery Williamson signed a 3 year deal last offseason.

Kevin Minter was unemployed until Tampa signed him last week.

I think it will depend if they want to go all in for the last year or two of Ben's career.
