Which potential free agent safety would you like to see the Steelers pursue?

Eric Reid from SF (26 years old)?

Morgan Burnett from GB (29 years old)?

Kenny Vaccaro from NO (27 years old)?

Tre Boston from LAC (25 years old)?

LaMarcus Joyner from LAR (27 years old)?

Tyvon Branch from ARZ (31 years old)?

Marcus Gilchrist from HOU (29 years old)?

    Anyone else?

If Roquan Smith falls to late teens, trade 1.28 & 2.60 to SEA for 1.18 & 4.120:

    1.18 LB Roquan Smith
    3.92 FS Jessie Bates
    4.120 RB Royce Freeman
    5.148 DT Ken Norton
    5.165 TE Chris Herndon
    7.220 WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling
    7.246 OT Brett Toth

    If not:

    1.28 LB Leighton Vander Esch
    2.60 C/G Billy Price
    3.92 FS Jessie Bates
    5.148 DT Ken Norton
    5.165 TE Chris Herndon
    7.220 RB Ito Smith
    7.246 WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Gilchrist may be the first of those to get signed. I think he could come in and do the job but he's going to be out of our price range I think.

Eric Reid would also be good but is there going to be backlash because of him kneeling with Kaepernick?

If we could land Reid, that would be an improvement.

Reid could very well come at a discount because of his political stance...it isn’t going away anytime soon....

If I were to sign him, I would embrace his politics. Team him up with Alejandro Villanueva and work together in order to enact some positive change in our society. Both sides of the debate, coming together to make something positive happen.

It could set an example for the rest of the country....
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+# up and wear it.

    First choice -- Joyner
    Second choice -- Boston

Slap, with all due respect, I don't care to see my team become some kind of grand vehicle for making political statements. I want to see them play championship football.

Knowing our management, it will be none of the above. Colbert will find some bottom, basement guy and sign him for peanuts and then he'll swear to the Steeler empire he's really good.

Like Malcolm Jenkins and Chris Long?

Hey, if we get the players that best help us win a championship, and they happen to be involved in activism the way those guys were, great. But I think the team needs to be put together with the foremost goal of winning, not making some kind of statement on society.

I'd go for a guy like Burnett...Solid guy who can play all over the field.
He wouldn't be looking for the BIG contract like the younger guys will.
I wish people would/could leave politics out of a Steelers Football Forum.

Do you think those other guys are better than Eric Reid? I don’t know about that...especially if teams are
more concerned about politics than championship football...

I honestly didn't watch Reid that much this past season, but I envision him more as a SS, and I think FS is a bigger need for the Steelers to fill. I think Joyner and Boston both would step into that role better than Reid. Joyner would be my #1 choice. But I think it's unlikely to happen.
