The following thought is common among Steer fans.
Let's examine that contention closely.
Fact is when we played the Pats in the playoffs they were the better team period. They were better than EVERYBODY as they won the SB. The seasons we went to the SB, the Pats lost before they met us indicating they weren't the best team in the NFL. Period.
We only have met twice. First time we had the better record but Ben was a nervous rookie, they were the reigning SB champion. Last season despite this board's ridiculous expectations, they were better. They were favored. They had the better record. They went on to win the SB.
Could our teams that went to the SB beat the Pats the year the donkeys did? Or the year the Ravens did?
There was the year the Jets took them out and we beat the Jets in the 2010-2011 season and went on to play the Packers in the SB. Would that Pats team have beat us? Maybe.
But consider this. Within the same calendar year as that SB a mere 8 games later was the last time we actually beat the Pats. So would we have been able to do what the Jets did the prior season? There is no reason to think we couldnt.
"If" we lost to the Pats and say the Ravens, Jets, Colts or Broncos beat them in the "same playoff", there would be merit to the contention that "we" cant beat them. But that is not the case.
"When" we lost to them in the post season, they were just better than EVERYBODY.
