I'm sure that is what he was trying to imply, but as with a lot of what comes out of Gruden's mouth, not always backed up with actual facts.
Carolina did beat Tampa four times in the three year period where DeAngelo Williams was a Panther and Gruden was still head coach of the Bucs, but the total numbers are hardly indicative of an opposing player being a coach-killer: 50 rushes for 325 total yards, 4 TD runs, 2 catches for 17 yards in the four Carolina wins. His monster 186 yard 2 TD game came at the end of the 2008 season just prior to Gruden's departure, so it probably sticks in his mind as the last big game by an opponent in his coaching career.
I think today the crew said he was 12th in TDs passes and passing yards.
And he's still going.
He's easily on his way to a 1st ballot election
