Not saying we keep Allen but do you have a source on the missed tackles. I would think it would be Timmons.
Will Allen was fine, no one makes every tackle.
I lost a bet about Najee gaining 1300 yards.
"Our head coach has failed to win a playoff game for seven years in a row. His game day strategy, culture of divas, in game decisions, clock management, player evaluation, hires, and affinity with sub par starters at RB, P, and OL are holding the Steelers back. That standard remains the standard"
They tracked the missed tackles every week and totaled the end season result. And yes Timmons was up there also.

There are a lot of very good players on the ST. Thomas is right there with the best of them. Actually leads in tackles and is usually first one down opening the way for others. He probably makes the team on that alone. [Although he might be better off for his career and his fans if he were let go. Who knows? He might be better off like Howard Johnson who shares time with starters at Tampa Bay and has produced more in half the snaps that players ahead of him here did.] [way more]
So W. Allen missed tackles. So did Polamalu. To me, the secondary seemed a bit more stable this year when Allen was in there. Anyway, I didn't say to keep him as a starter. I realize that players get older and slower. I said keep him around as a backup for another year. Again, who's a better option? A late-round draft pick? Sign somebody else's backup during the off-season?
The problem with keeping older slower players is that the coaching seems to lean on them to much instead of giving younger players a chance to make mistakes. The first mistake a young player makes then they will get removed. Even Gerry Dulac said as much at the beginning of this season. So to stop the temptation it's better to replace them.

Shamarko was actually good on special teams...even when he made a boneheaded penalty, he was at least in position to make the play...
As for Howard Jones, I'm sure his stats look good...but, he played on a really bad defense...like, WAY worse than anything the Steelers put on the field....
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.
