Considering that he started his college career as a TE at Central Michigan before transferring to Wisconsin and playing DL, yeah, he was more raw than many other college players.
By the way, according to the draft trade value chart, all 7 of our picks combined that year add up to slightly less than 1075 points. To trade ahead of the Texans at #11, you'd have to move up at least to #10, which is worth 1300 points. It would have required a Ditkaesque trade of our entire draft class plus more prime picks the following year in order to make this happen. I remember trying to work out trade possibilities that year to move up in round 1 in order to reunite the Pouncey twins, but it just wasn't feasible. Giving up our first and second round picks would only be enough to move us up to #19 according to the chart.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

If we'd gotten Watt, maybe he'd be going to high school dances in a Steelers jersey...
Not per my eyes and many scouting profiles. Now, if you mean raw as in hadn't reached his full potential...well yeah. But, the guy could play. He was a stud at the college level and grew into a phenom at the pro level. But, all indicators including the intangibles were there that he could be very special.
Trolls are people too.
EVERY TEAM IN THE NFL wishes they had Watt.
If we straight passed on him it's worth talking about.
Tee Martin over Tom Brady? Let's talk.
Trading down?
If "back to the future" Biff came back from 2014 and somehow took the GM job from Colbert in 2011 sure we trade down.
ANYBODY would do that.
Being that NOBODY including Watt himself knew what he would become as a pro, it was impossible to know beforehand that it was worth the trade up

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:
TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher
I'm surprised no one mentions the elephant in the room... How does a guy go from Adam Carriker in college, to Reggie White 2.0 in the pros. The guy is better than REGGIE F'n WHITE ever was. In a league where offense has all the advantages.
Watt's success is highly suspicious.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.
