Thread: Injuries leading to better D?

I think that Moats and Spence might be ok for the short term. I think both are going to be capable fill-ins and could potentially bring something to the table that the starters did not. I just hate the fact that JJ and Shazier are both missing valuable in-game, full-speed reps as first and second year players.

Is this D better with Moats and Spence starting? My argument is that having a vet with a chip on his shoulder in Moats (also silverback as a pass rush specialist and for team morale) and Spence who has been a student for a couple years now...means we have guys who know what they are doing. While I believe the ceiling for both are lower...I believe they bring more value now.

Interesting point of view. Glass half full concept which is always good.
Regarding Blake his speed is a talent. Size is a talent and he is lacking there.Needs to be more physical at the los. Eyes need to be better and in the slot where he is more natural with Gay going outside he should be better suited.
This team is talented but the depth check is now in play. Imho we will be fine.

Losing 3 starters is rarely a good thing.

Jarvis Jones was off to a decent start, but Moats looks to be little more physical. To say he is an upgrade is a little premature though. I haven't seen enough. Personally, I think Ike is on the downside. He showed that last season and I don't think he was off to a good start. So, in that area, I think his replacement will be an upgrade. Shazier had done some good things, but he was still feeling his way a lot. Spence has excellent instincts. So, in some respects he may be an upgrade. I hope he doesn't himself get hurt. It is nice to have him as a replacement, but Shazier still should be the main man when he is healthy.

As far as Worilds goes, some people have expressed dissatisfaction. He hasn't started strong. I still think he will get it going. He has the ability, which he has flashed, in the past. He needs an attitude infusion and Porter is the right mentor as is James Harrison.
