in today's NFL where offenses just spread you out now and ILBers have to defend TEs and scatbacks in space the smaller, faster ILB types are necessary. the day of the big, slow thumper is passe'...

That's fine by me. Would I like the next Larry Foote as a backup ILB? Yes, please.

    Alex Kozora @Alex_Kozora

Terence Garvin has been all around the ball today. Sean Spence also looks good. Nice day for the ILBs.

    James C Wexell @jimwexell

Molls is a friggin tackling machine.

Danny Molls consistently beat his man up middle. Sleeper ILB.

    Wexell article on Molls:

The Steelers will have some interesting decisions when it is time to make the final cuts. Behind the first 4 and Moats, they have Spence, Williams, Garvin, Molls, Howard Johnson, Zumwalt and Chris Carter. Of those 12 guys, there will be some difficult cuts.

I would get rid of Chris Carter in a heartbeat, particularly with Moats serving as a veteran backup at OLB. Nice to have competition at the most important position in the defense.

You think MLB is the most important part of the defense?

I think they definitely keep spence...after that I have no idea

I think the LBers overall are the most important part of the D. I'd love to see more depth outside (if breaking it down, the OLB are more important than the ILB), but its nice to have depth at an area that was such a weakness last year.

From that list I can see them keeping 9.

    Carter gone

    Zumwalt, Molls to the PS.

To be honest, this is the first time I have heard anything said about Molls, so a bit early to have him as a candidate for a spot.

Zumwalt should make the roster over Howard Johnson, he needs to get reps on ST though
